Ozzy Osbourne has endured a string of health problems over recent years and has now opened up about a ‘nightmare’ operation.

The 73-year-old rocker took time away from the spotlight to focus on his recovery, having been very open about his health difficulties.

Ozzy has lived with Parkinson’s disease since 2003, and underwent multiple spinal surgeries for a fall he suffered in 2019.

Now though, the Black Sabbath frontman is back with his 13th studio album, Patient Number 9, following an electrifying performance last month at the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony.

In a chat with Zane Lowe for Apple Music and sitting alongside wife Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy got candid about what he’s been through, lifting the lid on a medical procedure that left him worse than he did prior to the surgery.

‘If you don’t mind me asking, how was surgery? You look fantastic and you sound fantastic,’ interviewer Zane began.

‘Well, I’m somewhat better but it’s gonna take a while for me to get my balance back, I can only just do the best I can,’ Ozzy began in response.

Former X Factor judge Sharon chimed in, stating that her husband was in a really ‘bad’ way just before the pandemic hit in 2020.

‘We found out that the first f*****g surgeon did it all wrong anyway,’ Ozzy said.

‘So when I was having physical therapy it was ripping muscle with the things I had stuck in my neck,’ he added, with Sharon explaining that the surgeon performed ‘a really excessive operation that he didn’t need.’

‘He went in and took things out and put two big metal plates with screws and the body rejected them. And he couldn’t lift his head up. The screws in the plates were coming loose and as they were working loose there was debris from bones and muscle and it was caught under his spinal cord’, she shared.

But an ever optimistic Ozzy clarified that he’s ‘not in that place anymore’ and while his recovery is ‘slow’ he’s more determined than ever to get back to doing what he loves.

‘I will get back on stage if it f*****g kills me,’ he declared.

With Sharon by his side for the whole hour-long chat, Ozzy previously praised his wife for her support, saying he ‘would be dead’ without her following his history of drug use and alcohol addiction.

Claiming he’s now ‘boring’ following his most recent detox, the musician – who has just celebrated his 40th anniversary with Sharon – said ‘love’ is the secret to a happy marriage.

‘If it wasn’t for Sharon, I’d be dead.’
