*Warning: This article contains spoilers from episode five of The Capture.*

We’re still reeling from the murder of Patrick Flynn (Cavan Clerkin) back in episode three, so we weren’t quite ready to cope when the latest instalment of The Capture threatened the untimely death of another fan favourite character.

Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) was on to dastardly tech and political guru Gregory Knox (Joseph Arkley), and while he may have knocked her out, the dogged detective wasn’t going to relent that easily.

Gathering her strength, she successfully arrested the conniving software boss, before she was chased down by the two assassins who shot Flynn dead as he was recovering from hospital.

In a shocking twist, one of the murderers turned on his pal, delivering a fatal shot as he shoved Carey in the back of van.

Meanwhile, Isaac Turner (Paapa Essiedu) showed his real colours, agreeing to go along with a Cambridge Analytica-type scam to assure his political ascent.

What else have we got coming? Here’s everything we wanted to know after watching The Capture season 2 episode 5.

How did Correction get a clear picture of the prime suspect?

As we all know, Carey is collating evidence on Correction, which means she is recording everything at all times on a secret camera sewn to her jacket button.

But as well as hopefully exposing the morally dubious government operation, Carey unwittingly caught a shot of Flynn’s murderers as they posed as hospital staff.

Carey’s huge issue is that she can’t reveal that footage because it was illegally obtained and would also alert Correction to her secret plan.

However, in the thrumming hub of Correction, Carey’s image of the prime suspect is being streamed everywhere, as experts use facial recognition software to track down the killer.

Why was Carey’s life spared?

After arresting Knox, Carey notices CCTV footage shows a revolving door and a lift climbing up the floors.

While no figures can be seen, we all know what that means, and Carey wastes no time in trying to flee the high-rise office building.

As she becomes cornered in a lift, using a blade of glass smashed as a mirror as her own protection, Carey looks on the verge of crumbling.

But in a shock twist, one of the assassins saves her and murders his companion to the complete disbelief of Carey.

She’s not out of the woods yet, though, as she gets bundled into a van, with her hands tied.

Who is Gregory Knox and what does he really want?

It turns out that the person messing with Turner all along was Knox and not Correction, with the politician’s team in on it.

Knox uses unorthodox and shocking methods to assure his client’s political success, namely by manipulating footage of a left-wing politician so they share right-wing views to appeal to both sides of the spectrum.

While Turner looks taken aback by the revelation he appears to consent to Knox continuing his corrupt work.

It looks like Turner will compromise all of his beliefs and values for glory, but what does Knox really get out of it. Is there more going on here?

Can Chloe Tan be trusted?

New detective Chloe Tan (Tessa Wong) has a habit of eavesdropping on private conversations.

This time around she overhears a conversation between Carey and BBC journalist Khadija Khan (Indira Varma), who are both plotting to expose Correction.

While she claims to Carey she didn’t hear anything, we previously saw Tan speaking to Correction’s boss and biggest champion Gemma Garland (Lia Williams).

Garland previously told Tan she had ‘something’, suggesting the two could be in cahoots. Will Tan disclose Carey’s secrets?

Are the killers and Gregory Knox connected?

Episode five implies that there are two evil forces at work, with Knox manipulating Turner’s political career at any cost on the one side, and the Russian assassins on the other.

Interestingly, as they entered Knox’s office building in pursuit of Carey, Knox was able to walk free as he was later seen unscathed revealing the true nature of his business to Turner.

Nor did Knox appear shocked or concerned when Carey disclosed there were assassins approaching the building as if he had been expecting it all along.

Is there a wider scheme between Knox and the killers to take down the UK government?
