Television schedules have been reshuffled over the past four days following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, with BBC One, ITV, and Channel 4 all affected.

Broadcasters suspended programming in the wake of the late monarch’s death after news broke shortly after 6.30pm that she had died peacefully at Balmoral aged 96.

Although BBC One, ITV, and Channel 4 will continue to make changes to their regular programming schedules during the period of mourning, there are some television shows airing this week that we can all get excited about, including the return of Great British Bake Off.

We’ve rounded up all the unmissable programmes that you should definitely tune in to if you’re looking to take your mind off everything.

Great British Bake Off

Great British Bake Off will return to screens as planned on Tuesday with 12 new bakers rising to the occasion.

The first show of the new series will air in its usual 8pm slot and will see judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith task the contestants with cooking up a variety of sponge.

In the signature, the class of 2022 will bake 12 perfect mini cakes, before working out the recipe for a sponge that should be familiar. In the showstopper, the bakers are challenged to reproduce a house of great significance to them, out of sponge, of course.

Great British Bake Off returns on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.

Strictly Come Dancing

We’re just days away from Strictly Come Dancing fever sweeping the nation and keeping us entertained across the autumn months.

This year’s series is currently due to launch on Sunday, with 15 celebrities set to take to the ballroom floor to show us their moves.

The line-up was announced in recent weeks and includes presenter Helen Skelton, former EastEnders actor James Bye, and wildlife cameraman and presenter Hamza Yassin.

The X Factor star Fleur East, former England football captain Tony Adams, Britain’s Got Talent finalist Molly Rainford, and Ted Lasso actress and comedian Ellie Taylor are all also on the bill.

Singer Matt Goss, Kiss radio host Tyler West, Paralympic swimming gold medallist Ellie Simmonds, comedian and actress Jayde Adams, actor Will Mellor, Loose Women star Kaye Adams, actress Kym Marsh and TV and radio personality Richie Anderson complete the line-up.

We’re in for a treat.

The Capture

The sixth and final episode of The Capture is due to air on Monday night.

Created, written, and directed by Ben Chanan, the drama has kept viewers on tenterhooks since its debut last month with all of its twists and turns.

Viewers last saw Rachel Carey (Holliday Grainger) being bundled into the back of a van before the credits rolled in episode five. Will she be able to put all the pieces together of this puzzling political and media conspiracy?

‘Carey teams up with Shaun Emery to try and expose Correction, but Napier is one step ahead,’ the synopsis teases.

‘Shaun’s future, and that of the nation’s system of justice, lie with one person. Carey has a decision to make.’

The Capture concludes on Monday at 9pm on BBC One.

The Masked Dancer

The Masked Dancer is back again this week, inviting audiences to release their inner Sherlock Holmes to detect which famous faces are under the elaborate costumes.

Saturday marks the third episode of the new series, and Joel Dommett will welcome five of the remaining disguised celebrities to the stage with new routines.

Judges Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Peter Crouch and Oti Mabuse will hazard their guesses at who they are before two contestants battle it out in a dramatic dance-off.

So far, we’ve seen Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page and Desperate Housewives actor Jesse Metcalfe unveiled. Who will be revealed this week?

The Masked Dancer airs Saturday at 6.30pm on ITV.

Married At First Sight UK

The new series of Married At First Sight UK continues this week, no doubt bringing us even more marital drama, tears, and tantrums.

Monday night’s episode will see experts Paul C Brunson, Charlene Douglas, and Mel Schilling set the couples an exercise to explore power play in their relationships as they move in and start living together for the very first time.

Later on in the week, fans will be treated to the second dinner party of the experiment, as well as the infamous Honesty Box challenge.

Oh, and more brides and grooms will arrive…

Married At First Sight UK airs Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9pm on E4.
