Holly Willoughby revealed that talking to her children about the late Queen Elizabeth II proved ‘helpful’ for her.
Buckingham Palace confirmed last Thursday that the late monarch died peacefully at Balmoral aged 96. Her funeral will take place on Monday, September 19, which will be a national bank holiday.
The 41-year-old presenter and co-host Phillip Schofield discussed pivotal moments during Her Majesty’s 70-year reign on Monday’s This Morning.
‘She was just consistently there for so many of us. So many of us never knew any different,’ Holly said.
‘On Saturday I wanted to take the children down because I think you’re trying to explain it to young people and almost trying to understand it yourself.’
‘I found it quite helpful as I was talking to them, it was kind of sinking in for myself,’ she added.

When Phillip asked Holly how her children took the news, she replied: ‘For me, explaining it to Chester somewhat, I was trying to explain to him that whatever her passions and love, from being a little girl this is where she was destined to go and destined to do.
‘All of her own passions had to be put on the backburner for her country.’
On Sunday, Holly took her children – Chester, seven, Belle, 11, and Harry, 13 – to Buckingham Palace in London to lay down flowers.
