Kourtney Kardashian has opened up about her plans to have a family with new husband Travis Barker.

The lovebirds, who tied the knot in a stunningly swanky Italian ceremony in May, had turned to IVF to have a child together.

They spoke of their struggles to conceive on the first season of the Kardashians, with the Poosh founder explaining the toll that it had taken on her body.

In a new interview, she revealed that they had decided to stop treatments recently to focus on other parts of their lives.

When asked how their pregnancy journey was coming along, the 43-year-old said: ‘We started an IVF journey, but I stopped. It was a lot. I took a break to just focus on our wedding and getting married.’

Kourtney shares three children – Mason, Penelope and Reign – with former partner Scott Disick, while Blink-182 musician Travis, 46, is dad to children Landon and Alabama with ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

They started dating publicly at the beginning of 2021 and shared the news of their engagement in October of that year, before tying the knot three times earlier this year.

Because, why not?

Much of the debut series of the Kardashians on Hulu focused on their efforts to add to their joined family, with the pair speaking with an Ayurvedic expert before going on an intense cleanse to ‘rid the tissue of toxins’ for ‘better quality eggs’.

In the chat with Wall Street Journal, she revealed that she will be undergoing the cleanse once more.

‘Probably this Ayurvedic Panchakarma cleanse, which I’m going to do in the fall again,’ she said of the most ‘extreme’ thing she’s done in pursuit of wellness.

‘It’s all these things you can’t do: No sex, no caffeine, no alcohol, no sugar. You’ve gotta eat this really clean, strict diet and you do it for five days.

‘It’s to reset your body. You do all of that – and it’s cleaning out [the toxins from] your tissues. And then you go into this spa and do treatments every day for four hours. Everything is very ritualistic and has a purpose, and it’s fascinating. I was doing it mostly for cleansing my body [in preparation to] hopefully have a baby.’

Kourtney spoke of the impact IVF was having on her in a recent episode of the Kardashians, explaining that it ‘put her into menopause’.

‘Travis and I want to have a baby, and so my doctor took us down this road of doing IVF,’ she told the camera in a VT. ‘It hasn’t been the most amazing experience…

‘I think because I’m so clean and careful about what I put into my body, it’s just having the complete opposite reaction, and is working as a contraceptive instead of helping us.’

‘The medication they’re giving me, they put me into menopause. … Literally into menopause,’ she added to her concerned mom, Kris Jenner.

‘The medication basically put me into depression.

‘I have everything in the world to be happy about, I just feel a little bit off and not like myself, super moody and hormonal… I’m a lunatic half the time.

‘I think we want it so badly because we want to make something together.’
