Gareth Gates is reportedly the latest star to have joined the line-up of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The current season of the survival show has been dramatic, with Love Island star Amber Gill leaving after failing to complete a physical challenge on the beach, while Pete Wicks was forced to leave when he knocked himself unconscious during a challenge.

However, the former Pop Idol star has not been deterred by the accidents of the current cast, which also includes EastEnders star Maisie Smith, and will join the next cohort of celebrities to be put through their paces by ex-US Marine Rudy Reyes, according to a source.

They say the 38-year-old will begin shooting the Channel 4 programme at an ‘undisclosed location’ next month.

The TV insider added: ‘Gareth loves the show and is always looking for new challenges so when the opportunity came up he couldn’t turn it down.’

‘He knows it won’t be easy,’ they told The Sun. ‘But he’s looking forward to getting stuck in and can’t wait to start.’

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins continues this weekend on Channel 4, with the likes of Olympian Fatima Whitbread, and ex-footballer Ashley Cain still in the competition.

Along with a host of other famous faces, they are all vying to impress Rudy in a bid to pass the challenges of the show.

As well as Celebrity SAS, Gareth could feature in a reunion show about Pop Idol, if it gets given the green light.
