After many players started calling Velma from Scooby-Doo a Karen, MultiVersus changed her Snoopin’ move in its new update.
As Season 1 continues MultiVersus decided to make a major change to Velma’s character, as many players started complaining about one of her moves.
Before the change, using Velma’s passive ability Snoopin’ prompted her to go around and gather evidence before calling the police on her opponents. Then a fight would break out and Velma would try and kick enemies off the stage.
The ability is still in the game, though now when you choose Snoopin’ Velma calls the Mystery Machine, rather than the police – which does seem more on brand.
Calling the police didn’t sit right with many fans of the game, who went on Twitter to express their distaste.
One player said that even though he’s enjoying MultiVersus he wouldn’t choose to main (i.e. use them the majority of the time) a character whose special move is to call the police.
Others also called Velma a snitch and said that the police didn’t belong in the game to begin with.
However, Scooby-Doo fans came to Velma’s defense, saying that she’s ‘clearly not a Karen’ as she does her research and collects evidence before calling the police – unlike true Karens who are usually irrational.
Shaggy is another Scooby-Doo character you can choose to play as, if you still don’t like Velma, although MultiVersus taps into many pop culture franchises.
The game recently added the world of Gremlins, with its furry addition, and it also features other old and new classics like the Iron Giant and Adventure Time.

The game’s devs have also confirmed that Rick Sanchez from Rick & Morty and DC antihero Black Adam will also arrive in Season 1, though it’s still unclear when that’ll happen.
Though we don’t know who else might make an appearance in the future, all characters are owned by or associated with Warner Bros., which gives you some clue.
