Penny Lancaster got stuck into her police work today as she helped locals in Northolt ahead of the Queen’s arrival in London. 

The former model, wife of singer Rod Stewart, had earlier confirmed she would be working as a Special Constable at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. 

Her Majesty will be laid to rest in a state funeral on Monday following her death aged 96 on September 8. 

The Queen was flown from Edinburgh to London on Tuesday evening accompanied by daughter Princess Anne, before being received at Buckingham Palace by her other children, King Charles III, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. 

Her plane touched down at RAF Northolt where Lancaster was pictured conducting her police work and chatting to members of the public lining the streets, at one point sharing jokes and laughing with the crowd. 

She was also seen kindly helping a member of the public in a wheelchair.

During her appearance on Good Morning Britain this week, the TV presenter announced she will be on duty for the historic event and voiced her honour. 

‘I signed the oath of Office of Constable to Her Majesty the Queen just over a year ago, April last year, and just as the seamless tie between Her Majesty and King Charles III, my oath will now be with the King,’ she told hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid.

Lancaster, who recently worked during the Queen’s memorial service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday, added: ‘I have extreme pride to serve on the streets of London on Friday and I will be again on Wednesday when the Queen’s cortege and on Monday, which is a historic moment I’ll be very proud to be able to serve.’

The 51-year-old received her badge in April 2021 when she officially became a Special Constable.

She announced her plans to join the City of London police force in June 2020 after being inspired by her appearance on Channel 4’s Famous and Fighting Crime in 2019.

Lanacaster paid tribute to the Queen following her death last week, and wrote: ‘May Her Majesty’s memory be a blessing 🙏🏼 may she rest in peace,’ she penned. ‘Prayers and thoughts are with the family of our wonderful Queen, as they come together at this very sad time.’
