Sony has finally announced a new State of Play event and it’ll feature PS4, PS5, and PSVR2 games – but nobody knows which ones yet.

Major preview showcases are apparently like buses, because after months of silence not only do we have a Nintendo one today but also the latest PlayStation State of Play, which will talk about PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2 games.

10 games will be featured in total, in an event lasting around 20 minutes, but none are guaranteed to be first party titles.

The only clue Sony has given as to what the games are is that there’ll be some ‘great updates’ from Japanese developers, which is likely a result of the Tokyo Game Show being this week. More specifically, it probably means Final Fantasy 16 – since Square Enix said that won’t be at the show.

The livestream won’t only feature Japanese games though, with Sony stating that there’ll be ‘a few other surprises from developers all around the world’.

It’s impossible to guess what that might mean but it does seem to hint at new announcements and not just updates on already announced titles.

What time is the PlayStation State of Play?

The State of Play is a late one and will start at 11pm BST in the UK, which works out at 3pm PT and 6pm ET in the US.

It’s probably so late because the Nintendo Direct is scheduled for 3pm BST. You might well ask why Sony couldn’t just do it a different day, but that would be getting into the age old question of why publishers are so terrible at choosing release dates that don’t conflict with each other…
