While it may have not been the owner’s original vision, fans have compared a Grand Designs home to the Teletubbies’ iconic abode.

Dorran and his wife Vereuschka are the latest pair to completely transform a humble property in the hit Channel 4 show presented by Kevin McCloud.

The married couple decide to create a super modern house in Canterbury that is nestled under a hill, with the renovation work documented in Wednesday’s episode.

However, trouble strikes when builders refuse to work after the project site freezes over, leaving Dorran no choice but to take on the work himself.

‘Once you get offshore, there’s no one there to help you and if anything happens we have to deal with it ourselves,’ shipmaster Dorran explains.

‘I’m quite happy to take on a certain element of risk and deal with it myself.’

Later on in the project, the father-of three reveals he quits his job so he can concentrate his efforts on the new home.

The couple also decide not to enlist the help of contractors as they’d rather not take the risk of the build being ‘inaccurate or wrong.’

While the construction work may take a total of three years, with some of it taking place during the coronavirus pandemic, Dorran and Vereuschka eventually move into their new home.

Fans were quick to point out on Twitter that the finished project bore an uncanny resemblance to the Teletubbies’ famous home.
