Great British Bake Off has paid tribute to one of its beloved producers in the first episode of the new series.
The baking show returned to screens this week, with a batch of new bakers entering the tent, and Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Noel Fielding, and Matt Lucas returning.
At the end of the first episode, a tribute was shown on screen, which read: ‘In loving memory of Chloe Avery, 1980 – 2022.’
Love Productions also tweeted: ‘In memory of Chloë Avery who was a much loved member of the Bake Off family.’
Chloe, who worked on Bake Off as a food producer responsible for the edible aspects of the show, died of cancer this year.
She came up with the signature and technical challenges, helped stars with their recipes on the celebrity version of the show, and helped to ensure that cameras would be covering bakers during the most difficult or entertaining parts of their bakes.

Chloe’s brother Henry reportedly shared news of her death earlier this month on her Facebook page.
It’s reported he wrote that Chloe was first diangosed with cancer in December and given two weeks to live. She started chemotherapy the following day.
‘Throughout this, Chloë remained adamant that she would get better and put this all behind her,’ he wrote.
‘There will be so many of you reading this now that won’t have even known she was unwell, but that was how she wanted it to be. Chloë wanted to reappear after this, healthy and strong with her baby boy and simply say when asked that “2022 had been a tough year.”‘

The first episode of the new series of GBBO saw the bakers take on Cake Week, with Janusz being named star baker.
But it was Will who left the tent, with the baker penning a heartfelt message after his exit.
‘Wow, how amazing it has been to bake in the Bake Off tent!’ he said.
‘For me Bake Off is something really special, I feel it defines a contemporary vision of Britishness – a diverse, dynamic, friendly, creative, supportive and loving place brought together by a shared passion for baking. I feel so honoured to be part of that. Thank you, and let’s make cake!’
Great British Bake Off continues Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
