I’m an In-N-Out employee – these are our surprisingly strict uniform rules and the one thing male staff cannot wear
IN-N-OUT staff must abide by a strict dress code that includes strict gender policies, an employee has revealed.
The iconic drive-thru is known for its iconic white and red uniforms, as well as it’s friendly staff and legendary animal fries.

Now an employee has revealed the surprising lengths the fast food chain goes to to keep up appearances.
Each staff member is supposed to be in a white shirt, pants with a belt, socks, a pair of black shoes, a hat, a red apron with a gold apron pin and an In-N-Out name tag, according to the Society for Human Resource Management.
Hats are divided strictly by gender; with women wearing red caps while men wear the white paper hats.
The company does not allow the wearing of none In-N-Out pins or stickers and unauthorized flair is not the only uniform rule the restaurant enforces on its staff.

The male employee wrote on Reddit that he had been told to cover his hair so hoped to wear a red cap which he could tuck it into.
But he was disappointed to learn that the red baseball caps were restricted to female staff only.
Redditers instead advised him to use bobby pins to help keep his hair secured under the paper hat while indoors.
Some people recommended that he put his long hair in a bun or cut the sides shorter to keep it out of his way while working.
Others suggested that it might be easier for a male employee to cut off all his hair entirely.
Although the red baseball-style cap is an authorized part of the In-N-Out uniform, male employees are still expected to wear white paper hats while working in the kitchen regardless of their hair length.
