Sarah Beeny has said she losing her hair within 24 hours was ‘much harder’ than she anticipated in her latest breast cancer journey update.

The 50-year-old presenter and property expert shared last month that she had begun chemotherapy and will have a mastectomy and radiotherapy in the New Year.

Since revealing news of her diagnosis, she has donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer.

Sarah has been keeping her followers updated through her cancer journey, and in her latest post admitted that losing her hair was difficult.

Posting a photo of a clump of her locks in her hand, Sarah wrote on Instagram: ‘Sort of much harder that I expected it to be when it happened – in 24 hrs most hair fell out and I’ve shaved the rest off – onward and upward! X.

Sarah also shared a photo of herself wearing a long blonde wig as she posed with her dog in a meadow.

‘A handful of wild flower seeds and a bit of patience!!!!’ she captioned the image. ‘(One of us might be wearing a very good wig….!!) xx.’

Fans were quick to rally around Sarah and shared messages of strength and well wishes.

‘You look beautiful Sarah, hope you are feeling ok too 😍,’ one penned.

Another said: ‘Sending you lots of love and hugs.’

Sarah, who is best known for property programmes such as Help! My House Is Falling Down and Sarah Beeny’s New Life In The Country, had ‘a little bit of a breakdown’ after being diagnosed in a hospital consultation room.

Speaking to The Telegraph last month, she revealed her children, sons Rafferty, Laurie, Billy, and Charlie, and her husband, artist Graham Swift, helped to cut her hair.

‘Graham was trying to cut it nicely, but the boys – well, they’re not going to be famous hairdressers,’ she told the publication.

‘They said I looked like Cersei Lannister from Game of Thrones – I mean, she’s beautiful so I was sort of flattered, but my hair is now about a centimetre long in some places and it’s an inch long in others.’

Despite her diagnosis, Sarah said she will continue to work and is focused on a new Channel 4 series and book she has planned for later this year.

She added: ‘I’m lucky because I live in a family where we all talk.’
