Fate: The Winx Saga wouldn’t be the same without Abigail Cowen playing Bloom Peters who discovers she’s a fire fairy after leading a normal life in California.

Bloom packs her bags to learn to harness her magic in mythical boarding school Alfea when she accidentally sets her family home on fire in the United States.

As she grapples with her newly discovered powers in the Otherworld, Bloom learns her real parents are fairies and she was switched at birth, making her a changeling.

On top of dealing with revelations about her true origins, Bloom must also face monsters the Burned Ones, with whom she shares a mysterious connection.

Season two of the Netflix fantasy drama picks up where the finale left off, with new militant headteacher Rosalind (Miranda Richardson) overseeing the students, replacing the missing Farah Dowling (Eve Best).

More evil creatures pose a lethal threat to the order of the Otherworld and further dark secrets unravel about Bloom’s true identity in the gripping latest instalment.

Despite pulling in iconic performances in both seasons, Abigail told Metro.co.uk her very first audition was ‘chaotic’ and featured an epic suitcase blunder.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star explained: ‘My audition still haunts me to this day. I was on the way to the airport because I was going to a job and, as I had to pack for six months, I had this ginormous suitcase.

‘My car had broken down so I had to get an Uber to the casting office and my Uber driver wouldn’t let me leave the luggage in his car, so I had to wheel this huge thing to the audition.

‘In episode one of season one Bloom arrives in Alfea with a suitcase. And I’m pretty sure everyone thought that I was method acting.

‘I also stumbled into the audition because it was so big. It was like falling apart too. It was just so horrific and chaotic. And it was so quiet in there too. No one was talking and everyone was getting into the role and stuff.’

The 24-year-old went on to say that the trundling of the suitcase broke the silence and, as she couldn’t leave it in the hallway, she had to bring it with her to the room as she auditioned.

Abigail continued: ‘I was convinced and I couldn’t explain it to anyone either, because everyone was quiet. So I couldn’t be like, “I promise I’m not in character.” I was convinced I was never going to be invited back. But lo and behold.’

While it clearly didn’t impact the audition, Abigail’s co-star Precious Mustapha, who plays Aisha, had a much smoother ride with the casting directors.

She said: ‘The chemistry read is the audition that sticks out for me because that’s where I met Elisha [Applebaum], who plays Musa.

‘Loads of people were going up for our roles and I remember as soon as I did the chemistry read with her, it was like, “Yeah [we click].”‘

Seasons one and two of Fate: The Winx Saga are available to stream on Netflix.
