Viewers express ‘utmost respect’ for tearful David Beckham as he pays tribute at Queen’s coffin after queuing for 13 hours-Sabrina Barr-Entertainment – Metro

People tuning in to watch the live broadcast of the Queen lying in state have shared their ‘utmost respect’ for David Beckham after he queued up for hours to pay his respects.

The former professional footballer looked visibly emotional as he waited in line in the queue, appearing to wipe tears from his eyes as he waited his turn to bow his head to the late monarch.

Beckham, 47, joined members of the public in the queue in the early hours of the morning, wearing a flatcap with a dark blazer and tie, a white shirt and a navy coat.

One person on Twitter said they had the ‘utmost respect’ for the former England captain for joining the queue.

‘David Beckham looked so tired, shattered! I believe he waited twelve hours like everyone else?’ someone else pondered, as they witnessed the moment he reached Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin.

‘Well done #davidbeckham joined the queue at 12.45am this morning & waited 14 hrs to pay respects to our Queen, few more celebs & politicians should take a leaf out of David book,’ another Twitter user wrote.

One person wrote: ‘Fair play to David Beckham for queuing with thousands of other people, to show his respect to HM Queen in Westminster.’

‘Here’s David Beckham: not taking advantage of his name, money, or popularity to jump in the line, but instead his queueing patiently 12 hours. Respect,’ another said.

When Beckham was almost at the front of the line in Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster, he had to wait a moment as the crowd watched the changing of the guards.

As he stood in front of the Queen’s coffin, having removed his hat when he was indoors, he bowed his head for a few seconds, before walking away.
