The Rings of Power: Who is Adar and could he be Sauron?-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro
There are several theories about Adar’s identity.

*Warning: spoilers for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power episodes three and four*
After teasing the identity of the orc’s monstruous leader at the end of episode three, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power finally saw him come into plain sight in its latest instalment.
Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova) was left in a terrible predicament when his fellow elves’, who had been enslaved by the Orcs, escape plan went terribly wrong.
As they tried to lure the grotesque creatures into the light, successfully slashing a number of them, Revion (Simon Merrells) made a bid for freedom, before being shot by a bow and arrow as he exited the camp.
With Arondir the only suriving prisoner, his life was spared by the Orcs as they summoned their master Adar, a character not featured in JRR Tolkien’s books.
Speaking cyrptically to Arondir, and giving very little away about his origins, Adar informs the terrified elf that he has been lied to his whole life, while also teasing that one day he will be a God.
Adar, whose name means ‘father’ in Elvish, then sends Arondir packing to the Southlands with a message for the people who live there: surrender the land or face certain death.

Who is Adar and is he Sauron?
What took Arondir, and audiences by surprise, is that Adar is most definitely not an Orc and, judging by his ears and his ability to speak Elvish, has Elf in his lineage.
A major theory is that, given his unquenchable thirst for bloodshed and all round evil, he is Sauron, who has still not made an appearance in The Rings of Power.
Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) is also following the dark spirit’s map which marks out the Southlands, which Adar wants to capture, linking the two together.

However, as Adar admits himself, he is not a God ‘yet’ and so lacks the power Sauron would yield.
Meanwhile, villager Waldregg (Geoff Morrell) tells Theo (Tyroe Muhafidin) after discovering his evil sword which bears the symbol of Sauron that the dark lord fell from the sky, whereas Adar appears to have lived on Middle Earth for many years.
Adar could instead be a lieutenant for Sauron, closely tied to the evil ruler and carrying out his work.

Others have speculated he could be a fallen Elf, fighting against his race, or a combination of an Elf and an Orc.

Orcs were originally Elves were were tortured and manipulated by Morgoth to become his soliders, eventually turning into an entriely different species.
Adar could be one of these original Elves, but one who retained more of his original DNA.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is available to stream on Prime Video.
