Courteney Cox has updated her iconic Tampax advert, taking the opportunity to give a PSA about the menopause.
The Friends actress became the first person to say the word ‘period’ on TV in the 1985 ad, which saw her don legwarmers and ask: ‘Does your life change once a month because of your period?’
Slipping back into some legwarmers, Courteney, 58, recreated the ad shot-for-shot with a few, erm, interesting updates.
‘Did your life completely change because of the menopause?’ she asked.
As 1985’s Courteney questioned: ‘Still using pads?’ 2022 Courteney asked: ‘Still getting hot flushes? Let me tell you straight! Menopause can change the way you feel about getting older.’
‘Menopause will eat you alive. It’s horrible. Nothing else can do that. Plus, you can get the added bonus of drier skin and getting bald patches. Now that’s something!’ she added.
‘Remember, there is nothing good about menopause!’
We feel the need to reassure that menopause, which usually happens between the ages of 45 and 55, is when your periods stop due to lower hormone levels, and won’t actually ‘eat you alive’.
Some symptoms can include anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes and irregular periods.
Courteney is no stranger to making fans laugh on social media, recently joking that she was left fuming by Kanye West claiming Friends wasn’t funny.
The actress, who starred as Monica Geller on the iconic sitcom, shared a video after Kanye denied writing some viral posts that were attributed to him, claiming that they were doctored.
Among them was a claim that Friends wasn’t funny, although the rapper, 45, went on to say that he ‘wishes’ he’d written that one.
Responding, Courteney posted a video of herself reading the post with Kanye’s Heartless playing.
Joking that she was stunned by the post, Courteney defiantly turned off the song before storming off.
Spelling Kanye’s name wrong in her caption, she wrote: ‘I bet the old Kayne thought Friends was funny ☹️.’
Oh Courteney.
