Alan Titchmarsh really throws viewers after revealing flirty exchange with Queen Elizabeth II: ‘Did I just hear that?’-Adam Miller-Entertainment – Metro

Alan Titchmarsh revealed Queen Elizabeth II made a saucy quip to the presenter which he now wants on his gravestone.

The former Garden Force host, 73, joined Kirsty Young on the BBC after the queen’s funeral had come to a close, sharing his memories with Her Majesty.

And one particular story really caught people’s attention.

While praising Her Majesty for her great sense of humour after they previously met when he got his MBE, Alan recalled: ‘When I came to my investiture in June 2000 I wondered if she would say anything.

‘I went up for my bow and she said, “are you busy?”

‘I was disappointed, it was a bit general, but I told her what I was doing, I was doing some television writing.

‘At the end the hand came out, she shook my hand, and she said “you give a lot of ladies a lot of pleasure.”’

After a gasp from Kirsty, Alan said he then told his wife he wanted to be buries with ‘”He gave a lot of ladies a lot of pleasure: Elizabeth R” on my headstone.’

Viewers were thrown by the remarks with many commenting on Twitter.

‘Fairly sure Alan Titchmarsh just gleefully told the nation an anecdote about how the Queen told him he gave a lot of women a lot of pleasure. Kirsty Young hurrying him onto the next anecdote like a dizzy traffic cop,’ noted one viewer, which was echoed by another who tweeted: ‘Well there u go. A sentence I didn’t expect too hear when I awoke ‘Alan Titchmarsh – gives a lot of ladies, a lot of pleasure!’

The BBC was praised by viewers for its ‘outstanding’ coverage of the queen’s funeral, with Huw Edwards leading the broadcast in the morning.

During the service, commentary was kept brief out of respect to the service.

Edwards has been hailed as a bit of a hero by viewers since the queen died on September 8, with barely a day or hour going by when he’s not appearing on the BBC, bringing comfort to the nation.

King Charles III wiped away tears as he said goodbye to his mother, while he arrived with his sons Prince William and Harry.

Thousands of mourners lined the streets of London, throwing flowers at the royal hearse as the queen made her way to Windsor.
