The Great British Bake Off bakers have once again been put through their paces and oh, Biscuit Week is a cruel mistress.
Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were back in style as they judged each and every bake, from the macaroon signature and the Garibaldi biscuit technical to the incredible mask showstopper.
We had laughter! We had tears! We had handshakes!
Maxy was crowned star baker after a brilliant week but sadly it was Maisam, the youngest baker, who was eliminated.
Let’s get into it – and rank this week’s bakers.
Maxy

Maxy won star baker and it was a well-deserved win!
She scored an immediate Hollywood handshake for her signature, daisy macaroons filled with raspberry mascarpone cream and salted caramel.
Her technical wasn’t quite as impressive, although she still landed in 5th – but it was her beautiful showstopper that really stole the show.
Her carnival-inspired Masquerade mask was absolutely sensational, with coconut and lime flavours and decorated with florentines.
James
James also had a brilliant week (Picture: Channel 4)
James also absolutely smashed it, creating raccaroons (yep, raccoon macaroons), filled with raspberry cream and mango curd for his signature, whcih Paul described as ‘delicious’.
He placed second in the technical and was majorly ambitious with his showstopper, using a very fragile biscuit, the pesky brandy snap.
However, it paid off, with Paul praising him for putting lots of thought into it and using different techniques.
Sandro
Sandro smashed it (Picture: Channel 4)
Sandro, the people’s prince, also had an excellent week.
He was congratulated after making his passionfruit and salted caramel macaroons, and then placed third in the technical.
Meanwhile, fans were obsessed with his carnival-inspired mask, which ‘defied’ gender stereotypes, with Paul deciding he’d done an ‘exceptional job’.
Janusz
Janusz didn’t quite reach the heights of last week – but still did well (Picture: Channel 4)
Janusz may have been star baker last week but he didn’t quite rise to the same heights in biscuit week.
He made watermelon macaroons and, while Paul admitted they were a little dry on the outside, everything else was great.
He was middling in the technical, and created a gorgeous Cubist mask for his showstopper, which Paul described as ‘punching between the eyes’ with flavour.
Dawn
Dawn secured a Hollywood handshake (Picture: Channel 4)
Dawn had a great start, securing a Hollywood handshake for her strawberry mascarpone macaroons.
However, she went on to place ninth in the technical.
She did a little better on her lemon shortbread showstopper, with Prue declaring she’d done a ‘really good job’
Syabira
Syabira had a roller coaster week (Picture: Channel 4)
Syabira didn’t have everyone convinced when she said she was putting tofu in her macaroons – but Paul ended up loving the satay flavour.
However, she didn’t fare well in the technical, coming in 10th.
But Syabira more than made up for it with her ‘two sides’ mask, with lemon, jasmine, orange and pistachio flavours.
Paul described it as ‘delicious,’ declaring: ‘What a design’.
Carole
Disaster struck for Carole (Picture: Channel 4)
Carole sat largely in the middle of the pack with her chocolate orange burger macaroons (despite her magnificent accent), with Paul deciding she should have used orange zest and Prue saying they should have been more domed.
But she did better in the technical, coming fourth with her garibaldi biscuits.
However, she faced disaster in the showstopper, when her Phantom of the Opera-inspired mask collapsed and she was left in tears.
Paul admitted it was a ‘shame’ – as he thought it was delicious.
Abdul
Abdul placed last in the technical (Picture: Channel 4)
Abdul had a mixed bag this week, beginning with his fudge and coffee macaroons.
While Paul decided that the chocolate and salted caramel were lost, Prue still said they were ‘delicious’.
However, Abdul came last in the technical.
He went on to create a mask inspired by his childhood pet parrot, baking a whopping 90 biscuits for the feathers, with Prue saying he’d done an ‘exceptional job’.
Rebs
Rebs placed first in the technical – but didn’t fare well in the other challenges (Picture: Channel 4)
Things weren’t looking good for Rebs and her black cat chocolate macaroons in the signature, with Paul describing them as a ‘mess’ (albeit with great flavours).
However, she brought it back by placing first in the technical!
Rebs went on to make a floral fascinator out of gingerbread and whisky snaps, with Prue and Paul having mixed opinions – but Paul ultimately deciding that it was too soft.
Kevin
Kevin also had a mixed bag (Picture: Channel 4)
Kevin made mint choc chip-inspired dark chocolate and peppermint macaroon bake, and feared he was going to end up with a toothpaste taste.
While it didn’t end up toothpaste-y, Paul and Prue said his flavours could have been better.
Kevin didn’t do brilliantly in the technical, placing in eighth.
His showstopper was a mythical siren mask, which Paul described as a ‘joy’ – however, some parts were over-baked.
Maisam
Maisam left the tent this week (Picture: Channel 4)
It was a close call, but ultimately it was Maisam that went home.
She made orange blossom macaroons shaped like carrots and, while Paul said the orange blossom flavour was too strong, they were still pretty good
She placed middle of the pack in the technical, coming seventh.
However, when it came to her showstopper, Maisam finished around half an hour early.
She created a gorgeous Venetian mask out of gingerbread, but it was decided that she could have done more with her time.
Great British Bake Off returns Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
