Jonathan Goodwin has said the failed stunt which left him with life-changing injuries wasn’t his fault.
The TV star was filming an episode of America’s Got Talent: Extreme last year when his act went tragically wrong, resulting in him becoming paralysed and needing to use a wheelchair.
Jonathan, who rose to fame after competing in the 2019 version of the show and also appearing on Britain’s Got Talent, was performing a stunt in which he would hang upside down 30 feet in the air between two suspended cars and escape from a straitjacket.
However, the cars were released too early and he was crushed between them as they caught on fire.
The daredevil’s fiancee, actress Amanda Abbington, later revealed the horrifying extent of his injuries, sharing that, after his fall, he broke both shoulder blades, shattered both of his legs, and lost a kidney.
‘Third degree burns, broke his spine and severed his spinal cord and, nearly died. And then on the operating table, he nearly died again,’ she added to Out To Lunch podcast with Jay Rayner.

Now, Jonathan, 42, isn’t taking any blame for the almost fatal incident.
Answering questions about his stint on America’s Got Talent: Extreme, which has since been scrapped, he responded to a fan who asked: ‘What caused the accident? Improper set up or did you just f up?’
The escapologist replied with a selfie, pointing to himself, and wrote: ‘I didn’t do anything wrong’.

After suffering the life-altering injuries, Jonathan retired as a stunt performer and instead uses his platform to share advice and ‘positive thinking’.
In another Q&A recently, he was asked for ‘advice on rough times’, to which he replied: ‘Stay in the moment. Try not to project the future or concern yourself with the past. Take every day, every hour, every minute as it comes. Ask for help if you need it.’

Sherlock actress Amanda previously recalled receiving a voicemail from partner Jonathan before his surgery where he told her he loved her and said there was a 50% chance he wouldn’t make it.
Thankfully, he survived and has been keeping fans updated on his recovery.
