Susanna Reid has explained her decision for continuing to wear dark colours following the Queen’s funeral.
Her Majesty was buried alongside her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, at the King George VI Memorial Chapel at Windsor Castle last night, following a state funeral at Westminster Abbey.
National mourning in the UK has now ended, although the royal family will observe a period of royal mourning for another seven days.
Throughout the national mourning period, broadcasters had been dressed in all black attire, but now it is acceptable to change back to normal clothes.
Susanna, however, opted to wear a dark blue dress for Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, with her co-host Ben Shephard also wearing a dark blue suit.
Sharing her decision, Susanna told viewers: ‘It feels like a transitionary moment because the period of national mourning has come to an end, so we have transitioned into more sombre outfits, dark blue.’

Her comments came after some questioned why she was wearing black.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: ‘I followed the morning period, I watched the funeral, but I think we need to get back to other things now. Why are presenters still in black?’

Another asked: ‘When are you going to stop wearing black? The period of national mourning is over – we need some normality now! The men have lost the white shirts/black tie. Time to move forward!’
