The Simpsons boss Al Jean has claimed Princes William and Harry were fond fans of the long-running animation and can we blame them?
The Royal Family have made several appearances on the Fox show over the decades, and, according to showrunner Al Jean, William and Harry were, or perhaps still are, viewers.
Reflecting on a memory of being in the Queen’s presence, as people mourned the late monarch following her death aged 96 at Balmoral on September 8, Jean remembered heading to the royal ballet in 2001 where the Queen and Queen Mother were ‘surprise guests’, with Jean noting he ‘could not be more thrilled’.
When asked whether the Queen was a fan of The Simpsons, he replied on Twitter: ‘We never knew… I think William and Harry were/are…’
In 2011 it was claimed the William and Kate, the new Prince and Princess of Wales, were invited to a table read of an episode while on a visit to Los Angeles not long after their wedding, with a letter ‘written’ by the Simpsons patriarch Homer calling for the royals to swing by.
As celebrities and politicians across the globe paid tribute to the Queen, Jean also posted a picture of Queen Elizabeth II as depicted in the series, writing: ‘God rest the Queen.’

In the show, the Queen featured in an episode where she was meant to give Krusty the Crown a knighthood, before it instead went to Sir Elton John.
In another episode, in which Homer and the family travelled to London, the Queen sentenced Homer (and later pardoned him) to be imprisoned in the Tower of London.
Several years ago it was reported Jean was keen to have William and Harry cameo, with dreams to make one of them Lisa Simpson’s boyfriend.
According to Hello, he said ‘I know they’re image conscious, but I don’t see what harm it would do.’

Jean was also keen to get Harry on board alongside wife Meghan Markle, having put a call-out of sorts to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
He previously told Radio Times: ‘We’ve talked about Harry and Meghan. I hear she wants to do voiceover work. So if they’re reading this, give us a call!’
