Andor viewers have spoken and the verdict is in: ‘This is the best Star Wars series yet’-Pierra Willix-Entertainment – Metro
Yup, the force is well and truly behind Andor.
Everyone is calling Andor the ‘best Star Wars series yet’ (Picture: Des Willie / Lucasfilm Ltd.)
The force seems to be behind Andor, with Star Wars fans saying it might be the franchise’s best series yet.
Starring Diego Luna as thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian Andor in the five years leading up to the events of the 2016 film Rogue One, the first three episodes of the series dropped on Disney Plus today, and reviews so far have been glowing.
As one fan put it: ‘Andor is sublime, as both a Star Wars show and as a standalone accomplishment in my view. It’s gritty Star Wars. An easy five stars from me.’
Another user said that the series, which will run over 12 episodes, has ‘great characters and story, immersive production and bone-shuddering action and stunt work.
‘This proves small screen shows can easily compliment cinematic blockbusters.’
With an ensemble cast also featuring Genevieve O’Reilly (reprising her role as Mon Mothma), Stellan Skarsgard and Fiona Shaw, the series is set during a time where a Rebel Alliance is forming in opposition to the Galactic Empire.
Comparisons to the streaming services’ other Star Wars shows have inevitably been drawn.
While The Mandalorian has been the most celebrated to date (its two seasons have been nominated for six Emmys and a BAFTA), Andor could be giving it a run for its money.
‘Mandoverse is fine. It’s fun (mostly). Kenobi was cool. It was totally fine. Andor is everything,’ another fan wrote on Twitter.
As Metro.co.uk wrote in our review, Andor ‘dares to show a little more ambition in a galaxy far, far away.
We also said this series is ‘much darker than anything we’ve seen before’.

Other fans on social media have said the show is ‘a slow burn (with) Blade Runner vibes’, ‘phenomenal’ and ‘provides a distinct and innovative take on the Star Wars universe’.
Sadly, despite the rave reviews, it seems we’ve got an agonising wait until there’s any sign of a season 2 even though productions begins in November.
Creator Tony Gilroy told The Wrap: ‘We start shooting in November on Part 2. And I don’t know if…
‘Our past pattern was two years, but I mean, I’ll be on… We’ll shoot from November to August. And then our post[-production] last time was about a year.’
Andor is available to stream on Disney Plus.
