Amanda Holden has weighed in on the conversation surrounding the queue to see the Queen lying in state, praising David Beckham for waiting in line amid the backlash against Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The Heart FM star, who’s previously taken swipes at Phillip, was speaking to Ashley Roberts on her show when she referenced the queue.

‘David Beckham has landed a seven-figure deal with Qatar’s World Cup sponsor, Doritos,’ Ashley said. ‘I like Doritos. I would like a seven-figure deal.’

‘Well, get in line. He did get in line!’ Amanda said, adding with a laugh: ‘Well done him!’

Sharing the clip on her Instagram Stories, Amanda, who also paid her respects to the Queen with a floral tribute following her death, added the caption: ‘Get in line!’

Amanda’s comment came after Holly and co-star Phil issued a statement when they were accused of ‘jumping the queue’ to see the Queen lying in state ahead of her funeral.

They explained they were there as part of the media coverage of the event and did not take anyone’s spot, file past the Queen, or jump the queue.

‘The rules were that we would be quickly escorted around the edges to a platform at the back,’ Holly explained.

‘In contrast, those paying their respects walked along a carpeted area beside the coffin and were given time to pause.

‘None of the journalists and broadcasters there took anyone’s place in the queue and no one filed past the Queen.’

She continued: ‘We, of course, respected those rules, however, we realise that it may have looked like something else and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know that we would never jump a queue.’

However, many still don’t seem happy, with a petition calling for the pair to be removed from This Morning topping 60,000 signatures.
