BBC hits back at complaints ‘incessant’ coverage of Queens’s death wasn’t impartial: ‘Our reporting has been fair’-Cydney Yeates-Entertainment – Metro

The BBC has fiercely defended its coverage of the Queen’s death after complaints it has been biased in favour of the monarchy and didn’t include enough republican viewpoints.
The late monarch died peacefully at Balmoral on September 8 at the age of 96, following an impressive 70-year reign. She was later laid to rest beside her husband Prince Philip following a state funeral on September 19.
The BBC aired revised much of its programming schedules in favour of rolling news and specials during the period of national mourning, with presenter Huw Edwards at the front and centre.
While much of its coverage had been praised, with viewers even calling for the corporation to be ‘protected’ after ‘outstanding’ reporting of the Queen’s funeral, some have it out at its lack of balance.
Taking to Twitter to air their frustrations, one slammed: ‘It’s absolutely appalling that the BBC has shown nothing but incessant fawning coverage over the death of the Queen.
‘Not a single Republican voice has been heard on TV. The BBC is doing us a grave disservice. I will write to complain. This is not appropriate in a democracy.’

Another blasted: ‘Right, probably a stupid question this, but as the BBC is supposed to be impartial (I mean we know it isn’t but anyway), is it not then appropriate for them to provide equal space for republican voices?’
A third scathed: ‘So now that’s over I assume we get 10 days of republican propaganda from the BBC in the name of balance, right?’
The BBC, however, has hit back at complaints and insists that its coverage reflected the strength of feeling this has generated from across the country and around the world.
