Pop superstar, fashion icon, and now a star of the big screen – Harry Styles has come a long way since The X Factor.
The star, 28, first rose to popularity as a solo contestant on the hit talent show, before joining One Direction alongside bandmates Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.
The group became one of the best-selling boy groups of all time before splitting in 2016.
Since then, Harry has had a wildly successful solo career, as well as turning his attention to acting.
He plays one of the lead roles in new psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling, directed by his girlfriend Olivia Wilde, that tells the story of a 1950s couple embroiled in a web of mystery and deceit in a seemingly idyllic town.
The film has been released today (September 23), though it won’t be the last we see of Harry in cinemas this year as he is set to star in romantic drama My Policeman, due to be released next month.

As we get ready for a double dose of Harry’s acting magic, we take a look at his other film roles across the years.
Dunkirk (2017)

Harry first hit the big screen in 2017 playing Alex in Christopher Nolan war epic Dunkirk.
He made his acting debut alongside the likes of Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Barry Keoghan, James D’Arcy, Aneurin Barnard, Fionn Whitehead, Tom Glynn-Carney, and Jack Lowden.
The film is set in World War II and tells the story of the Dunkirk Evacuation.
It won numerous accolades, including best sound editing, best sound mixing, and best film editing at the 90th Academy Awards.
Harry received rave reviews for his performance, though he feared he had peaked too soon into his acting career.
Speaking to press on the red carpet at the film’s premiere, he said: ‘I feel very lucky to be a part of Dunkirk.
‘I’d do this one again but it may be one and done – I’d do this one again. I really enjoyed this. I’ve peaked too soon! There’s nowhere to go.’
Eternals (2021)

In a smaller role, Harry made a cameo in 2021 Marvel superhero film Eternals.
He starred as Starfox, the brother of Avengers villain Thanos, in a cast including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Kit Harrington, Richard Madden, Gemma Chan, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, and Harish Patel.
Harry appeared briefly in the end credits series of the film, and it has been teased we could see a lot more of him in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige said there are ideas to expand his character’s storyline in the future.
‘That was fun, that was a fun one. A teaser tag at the end of the movie,’ he told Entertainment Tonight.
‘We have a lot of fans outside the studio, of course. But, inside the studio of Starfox, of that character, of Eros.
‘So, as the MCU has extended into the cosmic arena, there are ideas,’
Don’t Worry Darling (2022)

Don’t Worry Darling sees Harry take on the role of Jack Chambers, the husband of Alice (Florence Pugh).
The couple live an idyllic existence in the seemingly perfect company town of Victory, California, which has been created and paid for by the mysterious company for which Jack works, though as Alice begins to investigate his work, it is soon clear all is not what it seems.
Harry and Florence star alongside the likes of Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, Kiki Layne, Nick Kroll, and Sydney Chandler in the psychological thriller directed by Harry’s partner Olivia Wilde.
As well as drama onscreen, there has been plenty of drama behind the scenes of the picture in the run-up to its release on September 23.
There have been rumours of a feud between Olivia and Florence, that Olivia herself has vehemently denied, as well as the bizarre accusation that Harry spat on co-star Chris during the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
During one of his Love On Tour shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the As It Was singer took a moment to address the wild fan theories and he was clearly highly amused about it all.
Harry told the audience: ‘This is our 10th show at Madison Square Garden, it is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back in New York.’
He then quipped: ‘I just popped very quickly to Venice to spit on Chris Pine but fear not, we’re back.’
My Policeman (2022)

In his fourth film role, Harry will star as Tom Burgess in romantic drama My Policeman, based on the 2012 Bethan Roberts novel of the same name.
Directed by Michael Grandage, the film will also star Emma Corrin, Gina McKee, Linus Roache, David Dawson, and Rupert Everett.
The film is set in 1950s Brighton and tells the story of Tom Burgess, who marries schoolteacher Marion Taylor while also being in a relationship with Patrick Hazlewood, a museum curator.
It is set to be released in the UK on October 21.
While promoting the film at the Toronto International Film Festival, Harry opened up about how he got into the mind of playing a repressed gay character.
‘I think he’s very curious,’ Styles said in a clip obtained by Variety.
‘I think he’s someone who is born into a very small world and, if you’re born into that kind of environment, you feel like you know where the edge of the world is.
‘Slowly throughout the story, I think he’s realising that it is a little further away than Brighton.
‘I think people live entire lives in very small bubbles like that, and if that’s how you’ve been brought up, and everyone around you and generations before you, your parents, etc. have all lived within their kind of small bubble, it’s obviously very difficult to even picture the world outside of that.’
Don’t Worry Darling is out in cinemas now.
