Filming for season 2 of Netflix’s breakout rom-com series Heartstopper is officially happening – and we’ve got four new faces to meet.
The coming-of-age show stole hearts and minds earlier this year with its breakout first season and was celebrated by millions of viewers.
Adapted from Alice Oseman’s online comic and graphic novel series of the same name, the series follows two high school boys who fall in love.
Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) falls for Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) while the pair grapple with their sexuality, their school environment, and coming out to their families.
Fans were delighted when Netflix renewed Heartstopper for two more seasons back in May, and now filming has officially started.
In a statement, the streaming platform said: ‘Production has officially started for the cast in the UK… Let the gay panic continue.’

Newcomer Leila Khan will enter the show as Higgs student Sahar Zahid, while Jack Barton will come in as Nick’s older brother David.
New Truham teacher Mr. Farouk will be played by Nima Taleghani, while Bradley Riches (who appeared briefly in season one) will get his own fully formed character: James McEwan.
The video shows Joe and Kit greeting viewers before they go off to hug and say big hellos to their fellow co-stars.
What will please hardcore fans is the news that every lead cast member will be returning for the next season.
The rest of the video then shows the entire cast sitting down for a table read (which, of course, they keep hidden to avoid spoiling us).
After posting the video, Netflix confirmed that Yasmin Finney (Elle Argent), William Gao (Tao Xu), and Corinna Brown (Tara Jones) would be among the names returning for filming.

This will be a relief to Netflix fans who have seen several important members of the Sex Education cast confirming that they won’t be returning for season 4.
The announcement about Heartstopper season two’s production getting underway has come shortly after star Kit Connor confirmed he was quitting Twitter.

Kit, 18, had been accused of ‘queer-baiting’ by some users on the app after he was videoed holding hands with actress Maia Reficco.
He then left the social media website behind, saying: ‘This is a silly app. Bit bored of it now. Deleting Twitter.’ He hasn’t posted since.
