The cast of Married At First Sight UK were left looking gobsmacked when Matt made an unexpected, X-rated claim about Gemma – and fans watching at home were just as shocked.

However, she later denied the accusation on social media, explaining that she was ‘messing about’.

Gemma and Matt have had a rollercoaster journey since during the process two weeks in, with the pair sharing awkward moments on the day of their wedding before clashing during their honeymoon.

This week, Gemma – who works as a salon owner – heavily criticised the ‘unacceptable’ editing of the E4 show, saying that in her opinion, she’d been painted as a ‘villain’ after being filmed making sexual comments to barber shop owner Matt shortly after they met for the first time.

During one of the latest commitment ceremonies the couple took part in, Gemma tearfully asked Matt why she ‘triggered him’ to the point of ‘storming off’ away from her when they were spending time together.

‘What do I do to trigger you to storm off?’ she said, as the panel of experts watched their tense interaction unfold.

‘Ok, can you please explain to these why I walked out the first day I walked away?’ Matt retorted, before adding: ‘I walked about because you started masturbating in a restaurant over a piece of food that you put in your mouth.’

‘Oh my god! Jesus!’ Gemma responded in shock to Matt’s revelation, as the other participants on the programme looked on in astonishment.

Defending herself, Gemma said that it was her ‘sense of humour’.

‘I do understand there’s a time and a place, but actually at first it wasn’t the fact that it’s a time and a place for him, he wanted me to stop doing it completely,’ she said.

Despite the clear friction between Gemma and Matt and the fact that he described her actions as ‘vulgar’, they both made the decision to continue their journey on the series, writing ‘stay’ on their pads of paper.

Several fans of the show were astounded by what they heard apparently went down when the couple were out at dinner.

‘I’m sorry but why would you masturbate in a restaurant? You wouldn’t even do that in a 10 year relationship,’ one person questioned on Twitter.

‘Are they not gonna address whether she actually did masturbate in public,’ someone else asked, seemingly confused as to whether Matt’s claim was ever verified or not.

Another viewer was left confused over why the experts ‘let the restaurant scenario slide’.

In a statement shared on her Instagram Story after the episode, Gemma claimed it was ‘one rule for her’ and another for Matt, writing: ‘We went for dinner with our camera crew and he was bantering he got funny with me when I said it’s okay for you to make those jokes but not for me he commented on my body language being different.’

She continued: ‘I made the jokes I made and he made his. He flipped his chair back and stormed out of the restaurant very angry.’

Gemma also clarified the situation, adding: ‘By the way I was eating oysters messing about. NOT MASTERBATING [sic].’

In a video recently shared on social media, Gemma said that the ‘the storylines they have created of me, ruins lives’.

‘It’s not okay. I have two children and a business. And I think if you asked any of the team who worked on Married At First Sight they would say I was one of the nicest people that worked on it. This is unacceptable,’ she said, before making claims about comments Matt supposedly said to her on their wedding day.

‘I think if you knew some of the things Matt said on the wedding day, which I don’t know why they haven’t been shown, maybe because they were actually worse than mine…’ she said.

Married At First Sight UK next airs on Monday at 9pm on E4 and All 4.
