Thirteen stars are back in elaborate costumes in an attempt to dance their way to the top prize while keeping their identity a secret.

Yep, that’s right, The Masked Dancer is back.

The show began in 2021 to much success – and this time it’s in a primetime Saturday night slot which will see it compete against Strictly Come Dancing for viewers.

Joel Dommett has returned to the stage as the show’s host alongside a star-studded panel of judges including Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Oti Mabuse, and Peter Crouch.

Stars have already been hanging up their dancing shoes as they’ve been eliminated from the competition, but who have we said goodbye to so far?

Here is the round-up of stars who have left The Masked Dancer series 2 so far.

Jesse Metcalfe – Astronaut

Desperate Housewives star Jesse Metcalfe was the first contestant to be revealed.

He was up in the bottom three alongside Pillar and Post and Candlestick.

However, none of the judges came close to Jesse in their guesses, with names such as famous physicist Brian Cox and Blur’s Alex James cropping up instead.

When Jesse was actually unmasked, Davina McCall couldn’t hide her surprise, shouting: ‘Oh my goodness,’ with Oti Mabuse cheekily adding: ‘I think I’m dying right now!’

The actor is best known for his portrayal of John Rowland on Desperate Housewives.

He has also had roles in Passions and played the title role in the film John Tucker Must Die.

After the revelation, panellist Oti Mabuse shared: ‘This is insane, it just goes to show it could be anyone!’

Joanna Page – Pig

Gavin and Stacey’s Joanna Page was the second contestant to be eliminated from the show after being in the bottom three with Cactus and Pearly King, who have yet to be announced.

Guesses for who Pig could be included Anita Rani and Clare Balding, but it was actually Joanna who had audiences tricked.

‘I’ve had a fantastic time, it’s been amazing,’ the 45-year-old actress said, revealing that she had kept the show a secret from her children, who are fans of the series.

As well as Gavin and Stacey, the BAFTA-winning star also appeared in the 1999 adaptation of David Copperfield, and featured as Just Judy in the 2003 romantic comedy Love Actually.

Stacey Dooley – Prawn Cocktail

The third star to be revealed during this series of The Masked Dancer was TV presenter and journalist Stacey Dooley.

Both Scissors and Prawn Cocktail were in the bottom two tonight and had to dance off, but it was Prawn Cocktail who was eliminated, leaving Scissors surviving to dance another day.

Judges were left stunned when Stacey was unmasked, with Oti Mabuse and Jonathan Ross actually arguing over who threw her name into the mix first.

Other guesses at the contestant’s identity included Rebecca Adlington, Sheridan Smith, and even Beverley Callard.

The star, who recently revealed that she and her partner Kevin Clifton are expecting their first child, took to Instagram to thank those who helped with her routine.

‘The choreographers were such sweethearts and the entire crew BTS. Ta so much,’ she wrote.

‘So fun! (Also, so sorry to my gorgeous runner, I just know my dressing room must’ve stunk of 1st trimester sickness.’

Gareth Malone – Cactus

Cactus was the fourth star to be eliminated from the show, and it was revealed the star behind the costime was none other than choirmaster and broadcaster Gareth Malone.

He landed in the bottom two alongside Pearly King, but it was ultimately Cactus who waltzed away from the competition.

The panel had believed it was a McFly or Busted star under the mask, but never clocked it was really Gareth.

Speaking about his casting, he said: ‘It was an absolute nightmare, I had to lie to everyone, had to lie to my parents, I had to lie to my children, I had to lie to everyone I work with, it was really difficult and I didn’t enjoy it at all.

‘It was really hard getting in the car and being clandestine about it and everything, and just so much of a relief when I took the mask off at the end. It was like, “Great, finally I can just be myself again!”

The Masked Dancer airs Saturday evenings on ITV.
