Ian Brown seemingly turns things around after ‘horrific karaoke’ gig with ‘unbelievable’ Glasgow show, brushing off ‘haters’-Tori Brazier-Entertainment – Metro

Ian Brown has dismissed the ‘haters’ and delighted fans with his Glasgow show a day after he left people horrified at his glorified ‘karaoke’ performance in Leeds.

The former Stone Roses frontman upset a lot of fans on Sunday night when he took to the stage at the O2 Academy Leeds without any kind of band, singing along to backing tracks instead.

Attendees accused the singer of ‘butchering his own tunes’, being a ‘let-down’ and slammed his attitude as ‘contemptuous’ as gig-goers in some cases paid more than £50 a ticket.

However, people who went to his Monday night gig in the Scottish city seemed to be singing a different tune as they flooded the social media site with praise for his show.

Brown was on the second date of his first UK headline tour in over a decade, and seemed to have tuned up sharpish following the public feedback.

New footage from his Monday gig was uploaded to Twitter, showing the singer giving a committed and on-pitch performance of Stellify, the first single from his sixth solo album My Way.

‘I take back everything I say [sic]. Unbelievable gig @ianbrown,’ the poster captioned the clip.

Brown retweeted the clip and defiantly added: ‘GLASGOW. HATERS HATE AND LOVERS LOVE!’

He then retweeted further praise of the gig, rubbishing the complaints from the previous show.

‘Just back from your Glasgow gig,’ one fan tweeted, adding: ‘All I can say is f**k the haters, that was the best gig I’ve been to in a long time. You were amazing from start to finish. The crowd loved you. Thanks for a great night. I needed that.’

Another post which he shared read: ‘@ianbrown in Glasgow tonight using his own brain, doing the unexpected, doing his own thing. That’s what makes him Ian Brown.

‘If u went looking for the norm or Roses tunes then u are 5 years too late and at the wrong gig. Love his solo stuff, love him, great night.’

He was also praised as ‘absolute class’ as one attendee said that he ‘didn’t need a band’.

However, responses to the video clip of the Glasgow show were still divided.

‘Sounds and looks so much better than the previous night fair play to him,’ observed one person, while another raved: ‘Top rate, genius. Sound bang on. Happily paid double…’

But a separate fan replied: ‘Sound bang on…. yeah a backing track will do that.’

Others branded it a ‘karaoke show’ and ‘awful and boring’.

Brown will be in Edinburgh tonight before heading to Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bournemouth and then Nottingham.

He wraps up the tour in London on Friday October 7 at the O2 Academy Brixton.
