Infinity Ward has thanked fans for the feedback after Modern Warfare 2’s beta, while Activision celebrates it breaking a certain milestone.

Activision must be very pleased with how Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is turning out. The series’ player base has dwindled this past year, but it sounds like Modern Warfare 2 is winning people back.

Its second beta weekend ended recently and, according to Activision itself, it had the most players, most hours played, and most matches played across all available platforms than any previous Call Of Duty beta.

This makes it the biggest beta in the entire Call Of Duty series and implies that it will easily avoid a repeat of Call Of Duty: Vanguard’s underperformance.

Developer Infinity Ward has shared a thank you message with players, explaining how it will be using feedback from the beta to make improvements in time for the game’s launch.

For example, enemy visibility, which was apparently a recurring issue across both beta weekends, will be tweaked so players can track their opponents easier without needing to solely rely on nameplates.

‘As we head into launch, we are going to be making some adjustments based on learnings from the beta,’ says Infinity Ward.

‘One of the most important parts of the beta is having you, the players, find new bugs and issues for us. We are grateful to the community for coming together to help us fine-tune this game – and we can’t wait to show you even more.’

However, despite Activision and Infinity Ward trying to encourage a positive outlook, a portion of the player base thinks very differently.

A quick glance at some Twitter responses shows players calling Modern Warfare 2’s beta the worst one yet, as well as accusing Activision and Infinity Ward of ignoring the very feedback they claim to be listening to.

but it’s one of the worst beta ever

Which naturally means most feedback received of all time…yet they want to ingore it… What is happening …

Others point out that Activision hasn’t shared any hard figures, arguing that any high player counts are only due to name recognition and it reusing the title from the 2009 Modern Warfare 2, which remains one of the most beloved entries in the series.

This isn’t necessarily an indication that the game is popular. CODs name Carrie’s weight, so people are gonna give it a try. I’d like to see the cancel preorder numbers.

What happens when you use the name of a top 3 CoD and release after a bottom 1 CoD

Show the active player counts then @CallofDuty

In between all the complaints, however, are the occasional defenders; people who admit to having fun with the game and are questioning why the most fervent complainers are even still invested in the series at this point.

Did COD hurt y’all? Y’all really love hating in this game and franchise! LOL!

Can’t wait for the release, one of the best cods ever made

The way some are talking about the game, you’d think Modern Warfare 2 was already doomed to crash and burn once it launches, but that seems very unlikely.

The new Modern Warfare 2 is meant to be Activision’s attempt to revitalise the series after Vanguard’s underperformance.

While the most likely outcome is that it’ll be a major success, these early responses point to it being no less polarising than every other Call Of Duty game in recent memory.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC on October 28.

This is the community in a nutshell sadly. Doesn’t matter what the devs do it’s always the same.
