Great British Bake Off star Rebs has actually had to clarify that she didn’t ‘pull a sickie’ during Bread Week – and that it was her strongest week.
This week, both Rebs and Abdul had to miss a week in the tent due to feeling ‘under the weather’.
As a result, no one was eliminated, with Prue Leith teasing a double elimination may be yet to come to even things out.
With Bread Week being infamously difficult, fans couldn’t resist joking about how they too would have ‘pulled a sickie’ to escape the pressure from judge Paul Hollywood.
However, it turns out Rebs, who has also faced some trolling, had big plans for her bakes.
She wrote on Twitter: ‘Will say it once for the people in the back, I DID NOT want to miss bread week (it was probably my strongest week), I was forced to go home for the safety of all in the tent, I just wanted the world to see my Lahmacun pizza and Mexican style smorgastarta! #gbbo.
‘No matter what you think of me and my bakes pls know I didn’t pull a “sickie”, I begged to stay and then I cried all the way back to Northern Ireland.’
She also shared a screenshot of a message she sent to a friend in the car home, reading: ‘Camila Cabello said ain’t no crying in the club but she never said anything about not crying in the taxi cause you’re missing your best baking week.’
Fans were gutted for her, with one responding: ‘I always thought Bake Off was supposed to be a nice, wholesome show, so I don’t know why people have to be so mean. Glad you’re still repping N Ireland.’

‘Sorry to hear this! Hope you back and baking well next week!’ another said.
One more added: ‘Jealousy is a very ugly trait. Please don’t let them get to you. The real fans of the show know how strict their protocols are. Stay strong x.’
It was presenter Matt Lucas who revealed that no one would be going home this week.
‘The judges felt given the quality here and the fact Rebs and Abdul aren’t here, that everyone deserved the chance to bake again,’ he said.
But the bakers shouldn’t rest easy, oh no, because Prue warned that a double dumping is on the cards.
‘They were all thrilled to bits because nobody had to go,’ she said. ‘They are all friends, they don’t want to see their friends go home, but sooner or later, we have to send two bakers home and that’s not nice.’
It’s hoped that Rebs and Abdul will make their return next week.
Great British Bake Off returns Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
