Sasha Banks removes all WWE references from Twitter handle months after shock walkout-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro
Say hello to Mercedes Varnado!
Sasha Banks is now going by her real name on Twitter after removing all references to WWE from her handle.
Wrestler and actress Mercedes Varnado – who still references her WWE persona and the company in her bio – hasn’t been seen on WWE television since she shockingly walked out of a Raw taping back in May alongside her tag team partner Naomi over creative issues.
Fans were surprised on Wednesday when the performer changed her handle on Twitter from @SashaBanksWWE to @MercedesVarnado.
There has been plenty of speculation about her future in wrestling after she recently made her runway debut at New York Fashion Week when she and Naomi walked for Mister Triple X and Jessica Jade, while she has making some serious moves in the modelling world.
Some fans hoped Triple H taking charge of the company as head of creative and talent relations might have prompted a shock comeback, but this move certainly suggests a return is a long way off.
The Mandalorian star remains hugely popular, and many people are hoping the change is nothing more than a way to further branch out into other careers without putting wrestling fully behind her.

One person tweeted: ‘She wants to be known by her real name. People saying this means she ain’t coming back to WWE like bruh this isn’t anything major. Also why wouldn’t she remove WWE from her bio? I wouldn’t look into it tbh. I don’t think she would return very soon tho I think it would be Rumble.’
Another added: ‘Still [says] WWE, tho. I think it’s more for her to focus on things in her non wrestling career, ie acting (sic)’
However, others weren’t so sure and one Twitter user summed up the opinions of many taking it as a sign, writing: ‘And that’s that, as they say.’
There have been plenty of rumours lately that Banks could be set for a shock WWE comeback after Vince McMahon’s retirement led to Triple H taking control, and the new boss has made it clear he’s open to having talks if she’s interesting.
Meanwhile, current Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair – who has plenty of history with Sasha after they became the first Black women to main event WrestleMania together in April 2021 – has kept coy when it comes to the speculation.
Quizzed about the possibility of seeing her former opponent make a comeback, she exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I don’t know what’s happening – I know about as much as you guys!’
When asked if it was something she’d like to see one day, the Raw Women’s Champion laughed and added: ‘We’ll just have to see what happens!’
