Grey’s Anatomy fans, the moment you’ve been waiting for might be inching closer as Sarah Drew has opened up about a possible spin-off.

The actress became a firm favorite with viewers thanks to her role of Dr April Kepner in the medical drama.

Her character had a long-running, on-off love story with Jackson Avery, played by Jesse Williams, which kept us all hooked.

In the 400th episode, it was revealed that they had reunited, sealing their relationship with a kiss.

Sarah teased that she’s been speaking to her former co-star about a potential spin-off for Japril, and we need this to happen immediately.

‘So many people ask me about a Japril spinoff, and Jesse and I have both been very verbal about how much we would love to see something like that happen,’ she confessed.

‘We love working together. We love that relationship and any opportunity to get to see them onscreen together more, I think a lot of people would be happy about that.

‘We’d be happy with that, so we’ll see.’

As well as a new series, she also kept the door firmly open about April making a surprise return, but admitted that there was nothing in the works just yet.

‘Not that I know of,’ she added to Entertainment Tonight of a possible comeback. ‘But when I came back for the 400th it was like three weeks before we stated shooting. So you never know! That door is always open.’

Grey’s Anatomy has been on our screens for 17 years and has given us drama, tears and happiness in almost equal doses.

However, a huge change was announced ahead of series 19 – which is premiering next month – when it was revealed that Ellen Pompeo would be appearing in a reduced role as Meredith Grey, having previously led the way for the last 18 seasons.

Calming our nerves about the upcoming episodes, Ellen spoke to Yahoo Entertainment about what we can expect.

‘The show inspires people to go into the medical field. It inspires young people to want to be healers and doctors. It’s an amazing platform, and I really love it,’ she said. ‘But there’s only so much of it I can do after 19 seasons. It’s a lot.

‘I’ve given the fans and the show so much of my heart and passion and energy, and if I don’t have that same level 19 seasons later, I don’t deserve to be in every single episode.

‘The fans deserve people who are super-excited and happy to be there. And these new kids that we have coming in are very happy and excited to be there.

‘I did want to step away, and they were gracious enough to hear me and then they were also more gracious than that to offer me another role.’
