Kelly Osbourne has defended her decision not to breastfeed in order to stay on medication vital for her wellbeing.
The 37-year-old – daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne – is set to welcome her first child very soon, with boyfriend Sid Wilson.
She confirmed her baby news earlier this year with the Slipknot star, sharing photos of her baby scan on Instagram, but has mostly kept things low key.
However, she made a return to the spotlight on an episode of Red Table Talk that premiered on Wednesday.
Standing in for co-host Willow Smith with Jada Pinkett Smith and Adrienne Banfield-Norris, they interviewed guest Hayden Panettiere about her recovery from addiction and giving up custody of her daughter.
Discussing the ‘judgement’ she has already experienced in motherhood, Kelly revealed: ‘I have chosen to stay on my medication instead of breastfeeding and the judgment that I have received from my friends and also extended family…’

She noted that she was aware that she would ‘miss out on that bonding period’ as everyone had rushed to tell her, but accepted she had to put her own health first in order to be ‘the best for my baby’.
‘I’m like, “Don’t you think I know that?” [But] what kind of mother am I going to be if I start going backwards, if I start being self-destructive? It’s something for me that I’m learning that I can’t pay attention to the milieu.
‘It has to be what’s best for me, what’s going to be the best for my baby. Because if I don’t do that, what kind of a mother am I going to be?’

In May, Kelly celebrated one year sober again, having previously been almost four years sober before relapsing in April 2021, which she revealed during a previous appearance on the Facebook show.

Elsewhere in the interview, the presenter and reality star joked that ‘no-one tells you that pregnancy is one of the roughest, most weirdest [sic], wildest things’, and praised her parents for their support.
Kelly explained that she felt ‘very blessed’ and ‘forever indebted to them’ for how they had adapted to help her during her path to motherhood.
