Strictly Come Dancing’s Katya Jones revealed the hard work that’s gone into rehearsing for the second live show of this series, which has left her with a leg full of bruises.

Katya is paired with footballing legend Tony Adams, but sadly, after the first week they placed at the bottom of the leader board with just 15 points, behind Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova with 20.

They did manage to win fans’ hearts with their throwback dance, as they performed a Tango to the Pet Shop Boys’ Go West – a tune often sung by Arsenal fans as the chant ‘One Nil To The Arsenal’.

This week, they’ll be fighting to stay in the ballroom with the Charleston to My Old Man’s A Dustman.

Discussing their rehearsals for this live show, Katya and Tony appeared on It Takes Two with Rylan Clark, where Katya revealed her leg was full of bruises.

‘It’s looking so good,’ Katya began before admitting: ‘I’ll tell you what… my legs.’

Rylan quipped: ‘Oh you’re bruised, my god Katya’s got her leg out, take a look!’

‘See this is suffering for your art, it really, really is,’ he added.

Talking about their next performance, Katya teased: ‘You’re going to have lifts, acting, hats, I’m going down into the trash bin, there’s legs everywhere, it’s fun!’

The 55-year-old retired Arsenal legend will be competing with the likes of X Factor star Fleur East, TV presenter Helen Skelton, singer Matt Goss and EastEnders actor James Bye in this year’s milestone series.

The opportunity has been a long time coming for Tony, after he snubbed an offer from the BBC back in 2016 as producers tried to land him for the hit Latin and ballroom competition, but the timing just wasn’t right.

While Tony is ready to wow the audience and the judges with his moves, he also explained how much dance has helped him through dark times.

‘I’m 26 years without drinking and drugs, so I want to bring some mental health and addiction awareness around life and what I do today,’ he told Metro.co.uk and other press.

‘Dance is all part of the process; we used dance therapy in rehab, and I thought “go for it.”‘

He continued: ‘I had a mental breakdown at 49. My new addiction is working too hard, so now I want to take things after Strictly. You can do anything when you’re free of addiction.’

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow night at 6.30pm on BBC One.

It Takes Two returns on Monday at 6.30pm on BBC Two and is available to watch on iPlayer.
