Strictly Come Dancing star Richie Anderson is one half of this year’s all-male couple, with 2021 winner Giovanni Pernice who raised the Glitterball Trophy with Rose Ayling-Ellis.
Speaking about his stint on Strictly, the BBC radio personality shared: ‘This is a dream come true! I cannot wait to get in those sparkles and sequins and shimmy across the most famous dance floor in the world!
‘Strictly is the ultimate feel-good show, as soon as I hear that iconic theme tune it’s just pure escapism. I’m going to have to cancel my legendary Strictly launch night kitchen party that I throw every year, I’m sure my friends and family will understand.’
Speaking about being paired with a male professional dancer, Richie added: ‘It’s a massive honour to be part of an all-male dance partnership, it’s so important we have that inclusion on such a huge show.’
Is Richie Anderson married and who is his partner?
Richie has been in a relationship with partner Dean Eagles for almost ten years.
Not too much is known about their romance publicly, though Richie does share the odd update on social media.
The couple recently celebrated their ten year anniversary with a trip to Italy, with Richie sharing the romantic trip on social media and penning: ‘This time last week, me and my Dean were sailing the Mediterranean on the beautiful @CelebrityCruise celebrating our (early) 10 year anniversary. We had the most amazing adventures #holiday #summer #SaturdayMotivation.’
Richie has not publicly shared if he and Dean have tied the knot.
Richie’s partner Dean was actually the one who encouraged him to be in an all-male duo, as he revealed to Metro.co.uk and other press that the show’s producers gave him the option of a male or female professional partner.
He said: ‘When I spoke to my other half Dean, it was our 10-year anniversary, and he was like “you have to.”

‘And it’s the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK. It would be such a proud moment to be dancing with a male pro.’
The BBC Radio 2 presenter, 34, previously admitted that John Whaite and Johannes Radebe’s partnership – the first all-male couple in Strictly’s history – gave him the confidence to also compete with a male professional dancer.

Thinking back on past moments which stood out for him from the show, Richie revealed: ‘Well, I have to mention my good friend Zoe Ball. Her Waltz in week one was so beautiful, elegant and floaty.
‘I also have to mention John and Johannes’ leaps. On a serious note, watching John and Johannes last year gave me the confidence to be in an all-male partnership this year.’

Richie addressed the importance of representation through Strictly and how much it would have meant for him when he was a child, adding: ‘I’m so glad I’m doing it.
‘I just felt so much inspiration. I wish I could have seen that on TV growing up, when I was growing up as a teenager and constantly trying to discover what I was and what I wasn’t.’
Strictly Come Dancing continues tonight at 6.30pm on BBC One.
