Ringo Starr has been forced to cancel his performances this weekend after falling ill with a mystery illness.

The Beatles legend, 82, was due to perform at the Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan on Saturday night but the show was pulled when Starr began struggling with his voice.

It was also confirmed that Starr has not tested positive for Covid and that the issue was regarding his voice.

Starr was also scheduled to perform at the Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minnesota on Sunday but that has also been cancelled, with the venue confirming the singer’s mystery illness.

A statement on the casino’s website read: ‘The Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band concert scheduled for 8 pm Sunday, October 2, 2022 has been postponed. Ringo is sick and was hoping to be able to perform, hence the late notice, but it has affected his voice so tomorrow’s show is postponed.

‘Ringo does not have Covid-19. He and the band send peace and love to all the fans who were planning to come out and see the show. A rescheduled date will be announced in the future.’

Tickets for the Mystic Lake show will be honoured once the performance has been rescheduled, while refunds are available for both cancelled events, with fans able to get their money back for tonight’s Minnesota gig until November 1, 2022.

It comes just hours after Starr tweeted a photo of himself and his drummer Gregg Bissonette posing together beside their private jet.

‘Gregg and Ringo on the tarmac heading for the next gig thank you thank you Toronto I send you peace and love,’ Starr captioned the post alongside various emoji.

Last week, the British musician admitted he doesn’t like the word ‘rest’ while discussing how he manages a jam-packed schedule at the age of 82.

He also detailed his fitness regime which includes going to the gym at least six days a week.

‘I go to the gym a lot. I work out to get my heart racing to shift the stuff that gets jammed in your arteries. I’m a vegetarian and I (drum) when we’re on tour,’ Starr told USA Today.

The drummer added: ‘If I’m at home, I’m painting, I’m doing something. I have two ways: I’m busy or I’m not. I can handle both of those; it’s the bit in the between that gets you crazy. … Just keep moving as much as you can.’
