Rob Beckett was simply just trying to get to work this morning but somehow found himself right in the middle of the huge Just Stop Oil protest in central London

Joining thousands of other commuters on Monday morning, the comedian tried to make his way to the Celebs Go Dating studios to record his voiceover for the E4 dating series.

However, he may have been a tad tardy after landing slap bang in the middle of protests that brought Westminster to a standstill over the weekend.

This time, the Just Stop Oil campaigners were heading to Whitehall and Rob found himself among them after hopping in a taxi, leading to a hilariously unfortunate situation.

Sharing his plight in an Instagram reel, Rob, 36, told his followers: ‘So I was getting a taxi to work, right, so I put my Crocs on because I was in a taxi and the VO booth for Celebs Go Dating, but some people have decided to glue themselves to the floor protesting and everything’s at a standstill.

‘So I’m walking now in my Crocs. I wonder what they’re protesting about.’

‘F**k sake. I was in an electric cab as well,’ he quipped.

He then revealed: ‘Well, that was an absolute disaster. I ended up being in the march, I was just by accident the Just Stop Oil march, then ITV News ended up interviewing me and the paparazzi started taking photos of me. I’ve got a tracksuit on and Crocs and then I was like, “I’m not in the march”, but I was in the march because I was in the people.

‘So then I got to the front and then they started filming me and it looked like I was leading the march. Then they started shouting at me because I said I thought you just protest some days, he was like, “Nah, we’re doing everyday in October”.’

Worried about his impromptu interview with ITV News, Rob added: ‘So now, it’s gonna look mental, I hope it doesn’t go on the telly but at one point by accident it looked like I was leading a protest through Whitehall.’

He joked: ‘Bit of a different style for a Monday morning.’

Clearly able to laugh about the situation, Rob branded himself an ‘accidental activist’.

Naturally, Rob’s social media followers were highly amused at the incident with one commenting: ‘Omg this is so hilarious my laughs went silent.’

Highlighting his choice of comfortable footwear, Rob added: ‘You’re on ITV news 😂 no croc shot though.’

‘Just saw you on ITV news you poor guy,’ another fan weighed in, while another laughed: ‘It could only happen to you.’

Over the weekend, the climate change campaigners blocked traffic on Waterloo, Lambeth and Vauxhall bridges by sitting on the road, while Just Stop Oil called for people to ‘peacefully join thousands’ in ‘civil resistance’ in London.
