David Seaman revealed that he went to great lengths to shield his Masked Dancer identity from close friend Ian Wright.

Husband and wife David and Frankie Seaman were revealed to be the couple behind Post and Pillar during Saturday’s show.

Following the clues, fans had been guessing it would be the Dancing on Ice duo, although Rochelle and Marvin Humes, and Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden’s names had also been thrown into the mix.

‘It was nerve-wracking,’ David admitted afterwards, despite the pair being ‘gutted’ to go due to Frankie’s leg injury which forced her out of the competition.

After they both dubbed their Masked Singer debut as the ‘worst kept secret,’ the pair explained which celebrity they avoided to keep their identity hidden.

‘Probably Wrighty,’ David told Metro.co.uk and other press outlets.

‘He texted me saying “I know that’s you,” and I was like “I can’t go any further” and just sent him the laughing face [emoji].’

During Saturday’s chaotic installment, host Joel Dommett explained: ‘Sadly, Pillar took a tumble during rehearsals and I am absolutely gutted to tell you that on medical advice they have had to withdraw from the competition.’

After the panel – Jonathan Ross, Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall and Peter Crouch – shared their final guesses as to who they thought was behind the masks, Pillar and Post were revealed to be the goalkeeping legend and ice skating star.

Addressing Frankie’s unfortunate incident on Monday’s Lorraine, stand-in presenter Christine Lampard joked: ‘Clearly, you’re just better on skates, Frankie.

‘You’re just safer on skates – that’s the opposite for the rest of us but you just need skates.’

Frankie replied: ‘I said to them for the first costume fitting that I was so terrified of the shoes.

‘Literally, I was wearing trainers and holding his hand when I fell over so they’re just no saving me.’

The Masked Dancer returns on Saturday at 6:30pm on ITV.
