Louis Theroux has revealed Kanye West turned down an offer to be the subject of one of his iconic documentaries.
The 52-year-old has been making films since the 90s and has followed the likes of boxer Chris Eubank and the late magician Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee.
However, the documentarian has said he has reached out to other celebrities, including Kanye West, who weren’t as receptive to being filmed.
On Reddit Ask Me Anything thread, Louis was asked by a fan: ‘We all know you’ve at times (read: often) found yourself in peculiar company for your work. Are there any subjects you’ve tried to make a documentary about, but found yourself completely “rejected” by them (for lack of a better word), with nothing to show for it?’
He responded: ‘I’ve definitely had my share of rejections. Kanye, Charlie Sheen (DM me if you’re reading this). I spent six or seven days filming with Ike Turner and he pulled the plug.’
The Stronger singer, however, hasn’t totally avoided documentaries and was the subject of Jeen-Yuhs, which landed on Netflix earlier this year.
Directed by filmmakers Coodie and Chike, the docuseries had been in the works for 20 years and followed the Yeezy creator’s music career, as well as the ups and downs surrounding his personal life.

Meanwhile, the BBC recently announced it had ordered a new slate of Louis documentaries, titled Louis Theroux Interviews.
The six-part series will see the esteemed broadcaster chat to major names in the British entertainment industry, including Rita Ora, Katherine Ryan, Stormzy and Judi Dench.

Outside of documentaries, Louis is also something of a viral TikTok star, being behind the Jiggle Jiggle rap.
The audio clip, taken from one of his shows in which he learned to rap back in 2000, was a hit, with Louis even starring in a music video.

He was joined by Whatcha Say chart-topper Jason and Chicken Shop Date creator Amelia Dimoldenberg in the nearly three-minute long video.
On Reddit, Louis was asked if he was ‘sick’ of Jiggle Jiggle yet, to which he responded: ‘No! It’s too short to ever get sick of it. What is it – about 15 seconds long? For me this was the summer of Jiggle Jiggle. I never dreamed I’d be considered relevant by the under tens.’
