Dancing With The Stars contestant Selma Blair performed blindfolded this week to help with the sensory overload she experienced during the show.
This week’s episode saw the stars dance to songs featured in James Bond films through the years.
Selma – who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2018 – and her partner, Sasha Farber, performed the rumba to For Your Eyes Only by Sheena Easton.
During the routine, Sasha placed a blindfold on the Cruel Intentions actress, 50, which baffled some viewers of the show.
However, when receiving their judgment, Selma explained the blindfold helped her to cope with the sensory overload she experienced while filming.
‘It was helping me to block out some of the noise,’ she revealed.

‘I do get real sensory overload and shut my eyes a lot so this was a gift, but also can be quite disorientating but really thrilling. I loved it, and I love Sasha.’
Sasha added that the decision to use the blindfold was a gamble, but that he is ‘so proud’ of his dancing partner.
‘The whole point for the blindfold was when I see Selma, there’s a disconnect from the brain to the body, she tends to close her eyes,’ he added.
‘When she’s learning a step, and she can’t control her body, she closes her eyes.
‘So I wanted to make her feel as comfortable as I possibly can on the dance floor. We gave it a whirl. It worked.’

Selma also said the performance was a tribute to her mother, who passed away two years ago (Picture: Disney+ / BACKGRID)
Selma also said she performed the routine in honour of her mother, who died in 2020.
During the show she revealed the special meaning of this week’s song to her, saying it was a special song between the pair and that they would regularly sing and dance to it.
‘If I’m in a space where I know mom’s with me, which she always is, even though I can’t see her,’ she told Entertainment Weekly.
‘So, the blindfold was a double meaning to me. She made me, and any joy or victory I have I always would want to go home.’
Dancing With The Stars continues on Disney Plus on October 10.
