It’s understandable why Gemma Owen and Molly-Mae Hague are being compared, since they both landed major PrettyLittleThing deals after leaving the Love Island villa – however, Gemma wants it to be known that they’re not alike.
Gemma, 19, finished Love Island 2022 in second place with boyfriend Luca Bish, after Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti scooped first place.
Despite not securing the £50k prize, though, Gemma, whose dad is football legend Michael Owen, is doing alright for herself so far (and that’s an understatement).
The influencer landed a six-figure deal with online retailer PLT to become their latest brand ambassador, describing the signing as ‘a dream come true.’
She follows in Molly-Mae’s footsteps, after the 2019 Love Island star became PLT’s creative director after releasing a series of edits with the company.
Commenting on whether there are any similarities between herself and 23-year-old Molly-Mae, Gemma insists that she is ‘unique.’

‘I think my style is timeless and in the moment,’ she said of her own personal fashion sense.
And on her PLT collection, she added: ‘I think my edit is mine, it’s true to me and what I am.’
Gemma was also full of praise for Molly-Mae, though, giving ultimate ‘girls supporting girls’ vibes to OK! magazine: ‘I think obviously, I’ve got a lot of respect for Molly-Mae, and she’s an inspiration to a lot of girls.’

‘But I think we are completely different people, I like to think I’m unique. I think my style is timeless.’
Gemma’s first PLT edit landed this week which, of course, meant a swanky influencer-packed launch party.
She isn’t the only Love Island star to have bagged a PLT deal this year, however, as Indiyah Polack is also the face of the brand’s marketplace.

Indiyah, who finished third on Love Island with boyfriend Dami Hope, is also said to have signed a six-figure deal to be the first face of the new PrettyLittleThing marketplace.
On her major deal, she shared in a statement: ‘As soon as I knew PLT wanted me to support this initiative and be the ambassador for the marketplace, where the focus is on re-wearing and re-selling which is something that’s important to me, I knew I wasn’t going to turn the opportunity down.’

As for Gemma, her romance with Luca is still going strong, they’re finally an official item, and they’re making long distance work, travelling back and forth between Luca’s home in Brighton and Gemma’s pad in Cheshire.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the dressage rider shared: ‘At the moment, we’re making it work really well. Whenever we have a free weekend or free day we’re either in Cheshire or Brighton. But in the immediate future, I think we’re going to continue as we are as it’s working really well for us.’
