Hilary Swank has confirmed that she is pregnant with twins.

The Million Dollar Baby star, 48, tied the knot with husband Philip Schneider in 2018, after two years of dating.

During an appearance on Good Morning America earlier today, she shared their baby joy with viewers, explaining that this is something ‘she has wanted for a long time’.

‘I’m so happy to share it with you and with America right now,’ she proudly said. ‘This is something I’ve been wanting for a long time and my next thing is I’m going to be a mom!

‘I’m going to be a mom and not just of one but of two.’

The Oscar-winner did not share her due date, but revealed her excitement at being able to share the news in public.

She was instantly congratulated on the news, before continuing: ‘It’s so nice to be able to talk about it and share it.

‘[It’s far enough along] that I can share it. And I am sharing it right now for the first time.’

Shortly after the interview, Hilary then popped up on Live with Kelly and Ryan to continue promoting her new series, Alaska Daily, when talk turned to her twins.

She explained that twins run in her family, as well as in Philip’s history, describing their babies as ‘such a blessing’.

‘It’s a total miracle. It’s unbelievable,’ she raved.

Hilary somehow managed to keep the news secret from her Alaska Daily co-stars, who weren’t in the loop until her announcement today.

‘But my clothes started not to fit so I had to, the other day … cut [my jeans] open. And then I put a jacket on that wasn’t in continuity,’ she said.

‘And [they] came and said, “That’s not in continuity”. I said, “Oh, I think it works”.

When told that it ‘didn’t work’, she insisted to them: ‘”No, it does. I’m going to make it work.”’

Hilary and Philip were set up on a bottomless brunch blind date and began dating in November, 2016, according to Vogue.

They eventually tied the knot in a stunning ceremony two years later, with the bride admitting at the time that they didn’t know ‘why we waited so long’.

Speaking about starting a family in 2020, she said that she wanted to start a conversation around women who didn’t have children, as they are often seen as ‘not maternal’.

‘I feel like so much of the time women who either choose not to or can’t have children are somehow seen as not maternal or not mothering and it is a conversation that needs to be had,’ she said.

‘I’ve heard a lot of women say that they’ve been told, “Oh, you’re kind of a failure”. Or “Didn’t you come here to procreate? There are so many different ways to procreate!”

‘Any type of mothering, any type of nurturing, is being a mother.’
