The news of a Frasier reboot has left fans divided amid reports that David Hyde Pierce will not be taking part.
The revival of the beloved comedy, starring Kelsey Grammer as the fussy radio psychiatrist, was teased for years before being formally picked up.
Instead of tuning into KACL to catch up with the gang, the episodes will be airing on Paramount+.
Deadline reports that studio bosses have greenlit a single series, thought to be made up of 10 parts.
There are few details about a possible release date and what the new comedy will focus on, but it has been claimed that we’ll see Frasier in a new city, surrounded by new characters.
According to the outlet, Kelsey’s original co-stars, including Peri Gilpin and Jane Leeves, are not thought to be returning to the fold, but could still make cameos – much like the Cheers cast making the occasional appearance on Frasier.

However, this hasn’t gone down well with some viewers, who are devastated that David may not be involved after he became a firm fan favorite as Frasier’s equally particular brother, Niles Crane.
Flocking to Twitter, one suggested: ‘A reboot of “Frasier” without Niles isn’t worth watching.’
‘Niles Crane is singlehandedly the best sitcom character ever why even greenlight a Frasier reboot without him…,’ another questioned.
‘Regarding the #Frasier reboot: I absolutely LOVE the original series, BUT… Niles, Daphne, and Roz were such a huge part of it. And they won’t be part of the reboot,’ a Twitter user agreed.
‘Honestly, I really don’t think Kelsey Grammer can carry this without them.’
A follower said: ‘No Niles, no point. I’d watch Niles without Frasier, but not Frasier without Niles.’
‘It won’t be Frasier without Niles. He had the physical animated comedic genius,’ a fan added.
David has not spoken out over the speculation, and has yet to publicly confirm whether we’ll see Niles back in any capacity.
Frasier, a spin-off of Cheers, first hit our screens in 1993 and was an instant hit with fans and critics alike.
It followed the medical professional as he returned to Seattle for work, reconnecting with his dad Martin Crane (John Mahoney) and brother.
The acclaimed series ran for 11 seasons before it ended in 2004, with Frasier leaving his home and travelling to Chicago, after falling in love with Charlotte Connor (Laura Linney).

Earlier this year, Kelsey lifted the lid on preparations so far and revealed that he cried while running through the first episode.
‘The key ingredient for the Frasier reboot is actually Frasier,’ he laughed on the View when asked what the ‘key ingredient’ was for the long-running sitcom.
‘It was always called that, it’s me… The key is me. I am the key.’

‘There are a couple of other things coming up,’ he continued. ‘We’ve developed a couple of other projects that look like they’re going to shoot first.’
‘We’re in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of the Frasier reboot. It looks pretty good.
‘I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I’ve cried, so you know, I’m happy.’
