The countdown to Halloween has officially begun as The Midnight Club is about to launch on Netflix.

Adapted from Christopher Pike’s 1994 novel of the same name, Mike Flanagan’s new spooky series follows a group of terminally ill teens grappling with their own existence and trying to scare each other with gruesome horror stories.

They’ve also made a pact to try and communicate with each other after death, haunting the halls of Brightcliffe, as they hunt for signs of the supernatural from the beyond.

As they spot ghostly sightings and eery apparitions, and battle their own existence, each night the eight members of the Midnight Club come together to share their stories.

Viewers may recognise some faces from Flanagan’s previous works, including Midnight Mass, while others are making their debut.

Who is in the cast of The Midnight Club?

Iman Benson as Ilonka

Iman Benson plays Ilonka, a teen whose terminal cancer diagnosis cancels her dreams of Stanford University.

Instead, her plans for the future turn into plans of survival, and the hope that she’ll find something to help her survive.

Benson, 22, has previously starred in Netflix’s #blackAF and Alexa & Katie.

Igby Rigney as Kevin

Midnight Mass star Igby Rigney plays Kevin, a teen who sparks a romantic connection with Ilonka.

Kevin slowly teases his ghost-story throughout the ten episodes, before he reveals the shocking ending, and admits his true feelings for Ilonka.

Rigney played Warren Flynn in Flanagan’s Midnight Mass, one of the only characters who survived the terrors.

Ruth Codd as Anya

Ruth Codd plays amputee Anya, a tough and nihilistic teen who has a deep fear of death and behind her sarcastic exterior, cares deeply for her newfound family.

Speaking about the best part of joining Flanagan’s world, Codd revealed: ‘Getting to play such a well-written disabled character. A lot of the time, the little representation we do get in film/TV shows, disabled people are often conveyed as either bitter and angry or saints.

‘Anya is so human. The emphasis isn’t on her disability, it’s on her character. As a disabled person, I felt seen.’

William Chris Sumpter as Spencer

William Chris Sumpter plays Spencer, following his emotional storyline of being kicked out of his conservative family home after receiving his HIV diagnosis and coming out to his parents.

Sumpter, 20, has previously starred on Broadway in Matilda. He’s also held roles in the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and When They See Us, as well as modelling for Nickelodeon.

Aya Furukawa as Natsuki
