YouTuber Charlie McDonnell has made a gender reveal announcement on social media, revealing they’ve now adopted the pronouns ‘she/they’.

In post shared on Instagram, Charlie – who first joined YouTube in 2007 and has over 2million subscribers – uploaded a picture of themselves with shoulder-length hair, smiling at the camera while wearing clear rimmed glasses.

In the caption, the filmmaker said they were making a ‘gender reveal’, while including the emoji for the transgender flag.

They continued: ‘Still going by Charlie but the new pronouns are she/they!’

Charlie has received an outpouring of love and support following their announcement, including from It’s A Sin creator Russell T Davies.

‘Hello Charlie! Much love ❤️,’ Russell wrote, while fellow YouTuber PJ Liguori added: ‘Very happy for you charlie! ❤️.’

YouTube creator Jackson Bird commented: ‘Ah so happy for you, Charlie! 🧡,’ while several fans also chimed in to express how happy they were for Charlie.

‘Dearest charlie, i truly am v v v happy for you!!!!’ one person said, as another added: ‘It’s lovely to meet you again Charlie.’

Charlie’s YouTube channel, which was named charlieissocoollike, was the first in the UK to reach 1million subscribers.

The channel appears to have been wiped clean, as there are no longer any videos available to watch on the profile, despite it having received over 300million views over the course of 15 years.

However, the photo Charlie uploaded of themselves for their gender reveal announcement has been made their profile picture.
