A new trailer has been released for the upcoming second season of Gangs of London and it might be the goriest two minutes of footage we’ve ever seen.

The much-anticipated follow-up carries on from the dramatic and, naturally, extremely violent conclusion of the Sky Original drama’s first instalment.

The final episode saw gang leader Sean Wallace (Joe Cole) killed after desperately trying to avenge his father Finn’s (Colm Meaney) death while fending off threats from rivals including the Kurdish Freedom Fighters and the Pakistani Drug Cartel.

Meanwhile, undercover police officer Elliot (Sope Dirisu), who had successfully infiltrated the Wallace’s criminal organisation has been forced to turn to the dark side and work with the shady Investors.

With Sean out of the way, London was left for the taking and brutal gang leader Koba (Waleed Zuaiter), aligned with the Investors, has no qualms about immediately stepping into his shoes.

And if the latest trailer for Gangs of London is anything to go by, the revenge killing and the change of guard have not amounted to peace in the capital city.

The clip opens with Michelle Fairley, who plays Marian Wallace, warn viewers it’s ‘not for the faint-hearted.’

She adds: ‘The new season is almost here, and we have a very special treat for you. Here is our exclusive red band trailer for season two of Gangs of London.’

What follows is two and a half minutes of non-stop shooting, stabbing, blood, death and misery, with absolutely zero of the characters given time to breathe.

Asserting his power, Koba shoots a man to death in the stomach – without even looking at him – and knocks someone out in a boxing ring at the start of the clip.

Another victim, meanwhile, has his hand sliced open with a knife, and a man, bloodied in a battle in a field, sees an axed wedged to his throat.

The most graphic scenes, however, see a man shot in the head in slow motion, with the bullet travelling towards another person behind him.

In one of the many brutal sequences, a man, while still alive, is dragged by his throat along broken glass.

The trailer ends with a tense Koba asking Marian what she wants before she responds: ‘London.’

‘So do I,’ he spits at her ominously.

Fans were quick to respond to the clip, with one writing on YouTube: ‘Looks absolutely savage although they showed abit too much, maybe.’

Another penned: ‘Not sure how i feel about this trailer, really enjoyed the first series and this does look good but that trailer was rammed full of savage violence, still looking forward to it though lol.’

A Twitter account remarked: ‘The red band trailer for S2 of #GangsofLondon is wild. They’ve dialled the violence up to 20.’

Who is going to make it out of this alive and will Koba be able to hold on to London?

Gangs of London season 2 returns to Sky Atlantic and Now on Thursday October, 20.
