The latest season of Strictly Come Dancing has barely begun and it’s already been claimed another so-called ‘Strictly curse’ has hit, with professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin ‘splitting’ from long-term girlfriend, Nicole Wirt.

The 24-year-old is partnered with Paralympic Gold Medallist Ellie Simmonds in the 20th series of the BBC show, after he danced with Gordon Ramsay’s daughter, Tilly Ramsay last year.

Off the dancefloor, though, it’s been reported Nikita and Nicole called time on their relationship, with the pro keen to focus on this series of Strictly, amid claims 27-year-old Nicole has moved out of his flat in London.

‘Nikita wanted to totally focus on this series of Strictly and decided a while back he wanted to end his relationship with Nicole,’ a source told The Sun.

‘They had been together for five years and it ended up being a mutual decision. Nikita is totally caught up in Strictly so they decided it was for the best for them to break up.

‘Nicole used to stay in London to visit Nikita but it was becoming more difficult with their schedules.’

The source added: ‘Nikita only wants the best for Nicole and she feels the same about him. For now he wants to put all of his focus on Ellie and their journey on Strictly.’

The 20th series started with a bang two weeks ago, before Loose Women’s Kaye Adams was the first contestant to be voted off the show on Sunday.

Last year, former EastEnders star Rose Ayling-Ellis made history as she became the first deaf contestant to take part in the show.

Rose went on to win the glitterball trophy, as well as a Bafta award for her performance with her professional dance partner Giovanni Pernice which included a silent section in honour of the deaf community.
