Trevor Noah has revealed he is considering a move to India to explore the world of Bollywood after leaving the Daily Show.

The presenter, 38, revealed he is considering a move to Mumbai after announcing he was leaving the show after seven years.

He said at the annual New York Gala for award-winning global learning non-profit Pratham USA, for which he was a special guest: ‘I never want to stop learning. I’m looking forward to the world being my home again.

‘I might move to Mumbai. Start a career in Bollywood. Learn the moves. Get the singing lessons.’

Speaking of the importance of learning, he added: ‘I wouldn’t be where I am today were it not for a handful of teachers who saw each child not just as a learner, but also as an opportunity.

‘Learning is understanding. It exponentially changes a community. If you go out to a community and you teach – then you have created a shockwave that reverberates for generations.’

Funds raised at the Pratham NYC Gala will go to support children and young people across India, with more than 75 million children reached since Pratham was founded in Mumbai in 1995.

The comedian, who is from South Africa, had joined the political satire talk show in 2015, taking over from fellow comedian Jon Stewart.

He announced at the end of September that he would be leaving, telling the audience: ‘What a journey it’s been, every single one of you who comes to support us every single day, everyone who has watched the show and it’s grown all around the world.

‘I found myself filled with gratitude for the journey, it’s been absolutely amazing, it’s something I never expected.’

He continued: ‘I realised after seven years, my time is up… but in the most beautiful way.

‘I’ve loved hosting the show, it’s been one of my greatest challenges, it’s been one of my greatest joys.

‘We’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together… but after seven years I feel like it’s time you know?’
